Senior Planner (Shutdown, Materials, Asset)

Location: Onshore Operations, Doha, Qatar

Department: Maintenance

Position Type: Full-time / Permanent

 

Job Purpose

The Senior Planner (Shutdown, Materials, Asset) will oversee and ensure the timely availability of materials and spare parts required for onshore routine maintenance activities, as well as provide planning and scheduling support for shutdown work. This role will also support rotating equipment maintenance, procurement processes, and asset management, ensuring optimum reliability of operating assets to achieve production targets safely and cost-effectively.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Shutdown Planning and Scheduling:
    • Develop advanced, detailed shutdown schedules using Primavera P6, integrating work packs, and developing Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
    • Maintain accurate records of Shutdown Work Orders (SD), including revision codes and priorities, in SAP and Primavera P6.
    • Perform quality checks on shutdown schedules, ensuring that planning best practices are followed.
    • Analyse schedules, identify risks, and provide recommendations for improvements and optimization.
    • Prepare comprehensive shutdown reports, including management reports, deviation reports, and progress versus baseline plans.

     

  2. Material Planning and Procurement:
    • Ensure the timely availability of critical materials and spare parts for routine maintenance and shutdown activities by collaborating with Maintenance, Procurement, and Supply teams.
    • Support emergency procurement of materials required for maintenance and ensure stock replenishment for Capital, Insurance, and repairable materials.
    • Execute updates to Material Master and Bill of Materials based on requests from end users.
    • Assist in material write-offs and write-ons, supporting warehouse material management and project handovers.

     

  3. Rotating Equipment Maintenance Support:
    • Support the asset maintenance team in troubleshooting and resolving issues with rotating equipment, such as gas turbines, compressors, and pumps.
    • Coordinate and plan major maintenance activities for rotating equipment during routine maintenance and shutdowns.
    • Review availability of critical spare parts and ensure necessary stock levels are maintained.
    • Support Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Risk Assessments for rotating equipment.

     

  4. Procurement Process Support:
    • Resolve procurement-related requests in liaison with Procurement and Engineering teams to ensure that all materials are available when required for planned maintenance activities.
    • Provide technical clarification, local and external repair processes, and manage the material return process.

     

  5. Support for Baker Hughes (BH) CSA Team:
    • Assist in materials management for Baker Hughes Contractual Service Agreement (CSA), ensuring the availability of required materials and supporting ongoing maintenance needs.

     

  6. Reporting and Documentation:
    • Prepare and develop periodic reports for tracking and follow-up on critical and urgent materials.
    • Provide regular updates and reports on procurement progress, materials status, and shutdown execution, ensuring all stakeholders are informed.

     

Person Specification - Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering.

Experience:

  • 8 years of experience in the Oil & Gas or petrochemical industry, with a focus on maintenance planning, material management, and shutdown planning.
  • Significant experience with rotating equipment, including gas turbines, compressors, and pumps.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Primavera P6 and SAP systems.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Strong computer literacy, including advanced skills in Primavera P6, SAP, and other industry-specific software tools.
