ABOUT THE ROLE:
Parker Poe is seeking a highly motivated associate with 2-4 years of experience to join our Energy & Environmental Practice Group in Raleigh or Charlotte, NC or Columbia or Charleston, SC. In this role, you will support clients throughout the Southeast with land use regulations, permitting, rezoning, and transactions related to renewable energy projects.
The ideal candidate will have experience representing renewable energy clients in development work, including local land use permitting, utilities commission regulatory matters, and transactional work (e.g., due diligence of permits and approvals). Experience with energy or non-energy developments on zoning and local land use permitting is essential, and experience with the acquisition, development, financing, and sale of energy projects is a plus.
This is a great opportunity to work with a collaborative team of attorneys across practice groups to advise.

Parker Poe's Energy Industry Team provides comprehensive legal services to clients in project development and finance, regulatory compliance, and M&A. We regularly represent electric and gas utilities, electric cooperatives, independent power producers, and renewable energy developers in solar, wind, biomass, and other clean energy sectors. Our team also has experience before regulatory bodies such as state utility commissions, FERC, and NERC.

- Knowledge of renewable energy project development, financing, and acquisition.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
- Active State Bar of North Carolina or South Carolina licensure required.
