The Subsea Reliability Engineer is part of the Subsea, Civil, and Marine engineering team within the Chevron ENGINE Center. The position is for a technical specialist in subsea systems with a focus on reliability for subsea production systems, operations/intervention support, and asset integrity management. This position will provide reliability and integrity focused technical support/consulting to both projects and operations across all of Chevron offshore and subsea facilities. There is a strong focus on partnership with Chevron's Asset Performance and Process Safety (APPS) team to provide reliability expertise for the development and deployment of Reliability Standards. Working with APPS, lead development of subsea facilities integrity and reliability management (FIRM) deliverables and facilitating integration of subsea FIRM into business units. Role includes scope for subsea reliability function to improve project and operational outcomes by development of enterprise-wide tools and processes supporting subsea reliability data collection, analysis and application. Develop capabilities of others through mentoring and informal leadership.

Key responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for research and development, capital projects and operating assets, including advanced reliability modelling and probabilistic analyses using tools such as reliability and availability modeling (RAM), Weibull analysis, and root-cause methodology. Develop written reports and presentations to convey reliability findings.
- Lead development of subsea FIRM deliverables and facilitating integration of subsea FIRM into business units and the broader Chevron reliability efforts, including coordination with digital teams for aligned product development and rollout.
- Know and apply hardware industry specifications, such as those from American Petroleum Institute (API) and Det Norske Veritas (DNV). The engineer will support continuous development of Chevron reliability and integrity documentation, technology development and strategic research programs.
- Review and evaluate manufacturing, testing and installation procedures and quality records for compliance to Chevron standards and industry specifications.
- Interface and collaborate with other Chevron Technical Center (CTC) functions including subsea power and controls, subsea pipelines, materials and welding, quality as well as business unit operations and projects teams.
- Work as a contributor in part of a larger team and independently. Establish own priorities and schedules to meet the needs of the broader team.
- Participate in incident investigations and hazard/risk identification and mitigation activities
- Develop and maintain relationships across Chevron, suppliers and industry peers.
- Develop capabilities of others in subsea and reliability through mentoring and informal leadership.
Required Qualifications:
- M.S. (or equivalent) in mechanical or subsea engineering.
- Experience performing reliability analysis and modelling techniques (RAM modelling, fault tree analysis, life cycle cost analysis, Weibull analysis, and other statistical analysis methodologies).
- Working knowledge of industry standards for the design, testing, and application of subsea hardware including, but not limited to, trees, valves, connectors, manifolds and wellheads.
- Ability to obtain medical and security clearances to travel internationally to offshore Company facilities and work on contractor offshore vessels.
- Experience using data analytics (data science) techniques applied to subsea reliability data collection, analyses, evaluation and reporting for equipment performance/maintenance diagnostics and prediction.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10yrs relevant industry experience in the design, engineering, manufacture and operation of subsea hardware and associated equipment.
- Direct experience in the design and manufacture of subsea hardware.
- Offshore operations and project execution experience.
- Subsea controls experience in design, development, operation and diagnostics.
- Experience leading technical, multi-discipline project teams.
- Proficient in DNV Maros RAM modelling software and subsea and/or facility reliability failure databases.
