This position reports to
Plant Manager, Large Motors and Generators
Your role and responsibilities
HSE Manager will supervise a team of Health, Safety and Environment Specialists, partnering with managers and employees to cultivate a sustainable environment through explicit management accountability and an adept organization at the Large Motors and Generators factory in Helsinki. Your efforts will focus on advancing health, safety, and environment (HSE) standards to nurture a proactive health and safety culture with a keen emphasis on ecological responsibility. You will lead by example, applying your in-depth HSE knowledge to provide solutions and advice to address a variety of issues. We offer a hybrid work model, but due to the nature of the work, you need to be willing to be at the Pitäjänmäki factory regularly. You will be mainly accountable for: • Ensuring that the area of responsibility is appropriately organized, staffed, skilled, directed and that HSE capabilities are optimized and aligned to standards, processes, guidance and best practices • Assisting line managers and supervisors in understanding their obligations, liabilities, and role fulfillment, according to local HSE law and ABB management systems • Facilitating HSE risk assessments by line management, ensuring all processes and corrective actions are implemented • Reporting on performance of ABB's sustainability goals, KPIs and HSE incidents • Ensuring that area of responsibility is audited • Facilitating HSE culture and continuous improvement including implementing the Group HSE management system, training and improvement programs • Planning and conducting HSE projects, managing resources and reporting on goals and progress

Qualifications for the role
- Several years of experience, working as a HSE manager or senior expert in a global manufacturing organization
- OHS Management qualification with relevant professional certification or equivalent experience in HSE/OHS management
- Confidence in navigating relevant legislation within the area of responsibility
- Familiarity with ISO 45001, 14001, 50001 management systems and machine safety standards
- Sound knowledge of tools and methods used in HSE work
- Ability to manage complex issues and work in cross-functional teams
- Collaborative, solution-focused approach and proficient written and spoken communication skills
- Proficiency in Finnish and English
