QC Inspector - Welding/NDT (Jacket)
Location: Offshore/Site-based, Qatar
Contract Type: Fixed-Term (until end of 2025)
Work Schedule: Offshore rotation / Site-based assignment
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Welding and NDT Quality Control Inspector to join a major offshore project in Qatar. This position focuses on the inspection of jackets and associated structural components within a high-spec oil and gas fabrication environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that all welding and NDT activities are executed in accordance with project quality requirements and international standards.
Qualifications Required
- Minimum of a technical diploma or equivalent qualification in welding/NDT
- Certification from a recognised international body such as AWS, TWI, API, ASME, or ASNT
- CSWIP 3.2 or AWS SCWI certification in welding - mandatory
- ASNT Level II (or equivalent) certification in NDT - mandatory
Experience Required
- Minimum of 10 years' relevant experience in the Oil & Gas downstream sector
- Demonstrated experience with international consultancy firms, third-party inspection/certification companies, EPIC contractors, or operators on major projects
- In-depth knowledge of offshore structural fabrication, inspection processes, and NDT interpretation
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the implementation of all welding and NDT-related quality requirements in line with the approved project quality plans and procedures
- Verify that contractors, subcontractors, and vendors employ qualified personnel and apply international best practices in line with project quality expectations
- Monitor welding activities on-site and at fabrication yards, ensuring compliance with approved WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications)
- Witness procedure qualification record (PQR) mechanical testing and verify full compliance with project standards
- Observe and assess welder qualification tests, including visual inspection and NDT outcomes
- Witness daily NDT activities, interpret test results, and verify the accuracy and conformity of inspection records
- Conduct stage inspections of offshore steel structure fabrication, including topside facilities, to ensure conformity with project specifications and international codes
- Provide regular updates to the QA/QC Engineer regarding contractor compliance, quality performance, and any deviations impacting the quality scope
