QC Inspector - Welding, Coating & Pipeline
Location: Offshore / Site-based, Qatar
Contract Type: Fixed-Term (until end of 2025)
Work Schedule: Offshore rotation or site-based schedule, depending on project phase
We are currently seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector with expertise in welding, coating, and pipeline inspection to join a high-profile offshore development project in Qatar. The ideal candidate will bring a multidisciplinary background in fabrication quality assurance, with strong field experience across welding inspection, NDT, and pipeline coating processes.
Qualifications Required
- Technical diploma or equivalent in a relevant discipline
- TWI CSWIP 3.2.2 certification - mandatory
- NDT certification: ASNT-TC-1A Level II or PCN Level II in Radiographic Testing (RT) and Ultrasonic Testing (UT), aligned with standards such as:
- ANSI/ASNT CP-106:2008 (ISO 9712:2005, modified)
- BS EN473:2008
- ASNT ACCP
- Valid coating certification (preferred): NACE Level II or BGAS-CSWIP Grade I (or recognised equivalent)
Experience Required
- Minimum of 12 years' relevant experience in the Oil & Gas downstream sector
- Demonstrated background with international consultancy firms, third-party inspection agencies, EPIC contractors, or operators on major project implementations
- Specific expertise in field joint coating (FJC) is essential
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee quality compliance of all welding, coating, and pipeline construction activities in accordance with approved project procedures and specifications
- Confirm that all contractors and vendors have competent staff and employ industry best practices to meet quality and compliance standards
- Monitor fabrication yard and site welding activities, ensuring compliance with approved welding procedure specifications (WPS)
- Attend procedure qualification record (PQR) mechanical testing and confirm alignment with corporate quality standards
- Witness welder qualification tests and review visual/NDT outcomes
- Observe NDT operations (RT, UT, etc.) daily and evaluate test findings
- Conduct in-process inspections of offshore structural fabrications and topside facilities to ensure conformity with project requirements and international codes
- Supervise all coating preparation and application activities at contractor or subcontractor facilities, verifying compliance through planned inspections
- Perform systematic checks throughout surface preparation, painting/wrapping, and repair works
- Ensure inspection hold points are enforced-work must not proceed without formal release at each stage
- Identify and ensure rectification of any non-conforming work in accordance with project quality standards
- Witness and assess painter and blaster qualifications, including testing performed by coating manufacturers
