R&D/Technology Manager

Your role and responsibilities

We are looking to appoint an R&D Engineer to Support the ELSP (Smart Power) Business and to specifically support NEMA Enclosed ATS Agile TEAM in Distribution & Energy Management (DEM) Agile Unit. Displaying strong leadership skills and demonstrable experience in technical fundamentals, quality, safety and compliance, and new product introduction implementation. In this position, you will implement creative, innovative products solutions to provide value to customers, and win in the market. This position requires a high degree of flexibility as well as analytical and interpersonal skills. Identifies, proposes, and implements innovative technology, software and/or solutions by contributing with own ideas. Works independently as a member of an R&D team. The work model for the role is: hybrid (#Li-Hybrid) within Bloomfield, CT. In this role, you will: • Perform a variety of tasks in the assigned area (e.g., mechanics, electronics, thermal, software), from concepts and requirements through design, implementation, integration, and testing, to technology transfer or maintenance and operations. • Leverage proficiency in own technical area to contribute innovative and creative ideas to R&D activities. • Propose and participate in relevant product and process improvement programs. • Communicate effectively, both on technical and general topics, within the team, with other teams and with management.

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor's degree, or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical power or similar with minimum of 8+ years' experience (experience in development of products & its solutions in Electrical distributions preferred)
  • Experience in manufacturing implementation of new and modified designs.
  • Experience with design and product documentation, Creo and Windchill preferred.
  • LEAN/Six Sigma - Green Belt certified preferred
  • Experience with Switches, Transfer switches, Automatic transfer switches, electrical panelboards, circuit breakers, or similar products or other Electro-Mechanical design and testing experience
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
