The Opportunity:
KBR is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to join our Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) integrated work package in support of exciting Defence projects for the Commonwealth of Australia.
The Chief Engineer will lead the Engineering teams activities across functional areas of Platform and Combat Systems, Configuration, Certification, and System Safety, and will provide direction and mentorship on the resolution of complex technical issues in accordance with the planned schedule.
The Chief Engineer holds an Engineering Delegations, and executes risk based technical advice on activities in support of the Enterprise.
This role is based out of Canberra, ACT.

Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the role will include, but is not limited to:
- Lead, plan and deliver critical and complex to very complex engineering activities and provide advice in all relevant engineering disciplines and management systems.
- Lead and manage a technical team of engineers and technical professionals, within technical regulatory context.
- Lead complex technical investigations within Test and Evaluation context, for Explosive Ordnance products within a predominantly Land domain.
- Engage with stakeholders and provide sound advice to all levels of the organisation, including executive leadership, technical and regulatory authorities and essential stakeholders including sponsors.
- Provide oversight and support for all engineering related activities, including the oversight of stakeholder engagement, engineering functions, design review facilitation and integration guidance.
- Monitor and report progress of tasks and ensure that task phasing and scale of reviews is optimised to allow activities to be planned efficiently and completed within the prescribed timeframe.
- Manage the required systems engineering services include requirements engineering, integration engineering, verification and validation, test and evaluation on platform and combat systems on PBS.
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
Essential:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience coupled with relevant qualifications).
- Minimum 10 years' experience in undertaking and managing designs.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in a Defence or related technical industry (CASG/Defence/Defence Industry experience).
- Experience in managing teams and strong organisational and coordination skills.
- Experience in taking responsibility for engineering decisions within a complex regulatory framework and ensuring that safe operations are maintained.
- Requires in-depth and/or breadth of expertise in own discipline and broad knowledge of other disciplines within the engineering realm.
- Must be eligible for ITAR clearance of relevant systems
- Previously held or capable of being appointed to Chief Engineering role, holding relevant skills, knowledge and qualifications to be delegated engineering authority.
Desirable:
- Experience leading Test and Evaluation activities within a capability or sustainment lifecycle phase/stage.
- Relevant skills, knowledge and experience with Safe and Suitable for Service (S3).
- Knowledge and experience managing test and evaluation equipment through its Capability Lifecycle.
