NOV is looking for a HSE Advisor to join the HSE team based in Manchester.
As an HSE Advisor you will use your knowledge and skills to promote a positive Health and Safety culture in the workplace and support numerous projects to meet the requirements of the Health, Safety and Environment Management systems. Your role will also involve assisting the site teams and managers by recognising Hazards and seeking methods to minimise Risks whilst creating, maintaining, and improving the Health, Safety and Environmental standards. You will champion HSE initiatives in the workplace whilst ensuring that employers and workers comply with all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and that all safety policies and practices are adopted and adhered to.

NOV is looking for a HSE Advisor to join the HSE team based in Manchester.
As an HSE Advisor you will use your knowledge and skills to promote a positive Health and Safety culture in the workplace and support numerous projects to meet the requirements of the Health, Safety and Environment Management systems. Your role will also involve assisting the site teams and managers by recognising Hazards and seeking methods to minimise Risks whilst creating, maintaining, and improving the Health, Safety and Environmental standards. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Occupational Health & Safety:
- Provide guidance to all departments to ensure that all employees receive adequate training and development to promote a proactive Health and Safety awareness culture.
- Provide consistent and accurate Health and Safety advice to all employees.
- Identify potential Hazards and assist department managers / teams with seeking methods to minimise Risks.
- Provide support and assist lead incident investigators to ensure timely investigations are conducted and root cause analysis is concluded with valuable corrective action implemented.
- Contribute to global HSE meetings to share knowledge and learn lessons from other peer groups.
- Maintain and develop HSE management system to comply with all relevant standards.
- Lead compliance audits for ISO 14001 and 45001.
- Create awareness campaigns to raise Health and Safety awareness.
- Assist during emergency response, first aid and medical emergencies on site.
- Monitor the correct use of employee personal protective equipment on the shop floor.
- Provide support on all Health and Safety concerns / problems raised.
- Schedule and monitor industrial hygiene surveys as required by local legislation.
- Manage/monitor all systems and requirements for 3rd party contractor activities onsite.
- Support the provision of occupational health within the business, and co-ordinate periodic medical surveillance for all employees.
Environmental:
- Continually monitor and review impact assessments with relation to changes in personnel, legislation, processes, equipment, best practices and other aspects or activities that could increase the potential impact of the organization.
- Periodically update environmental monitoring associated to key aspects and environmental objectives and targets.
- Promote the value of Environmental awareness at a local level.
- Provide consistent and accurate Environmental management advice to all employees.
- Provide support on all Environmental concerns / problems raised.
- Provide support to all departments on Environmental initiatives.
- Recognise potential Environmental Aspects and assist department managers / teams with seeking methods to minimise Environmental Impacts.
Administration:
- Assist with developing and maintaining the Health, Safety and Environmental management systems.
- Monitor and update all HSE noticeboards to ensure they are current and only relevant HSE information is displayed.
- Conduct HSE training as required and ensure that all new hires and contractors attend site induction training.
- Contribute to general HSE communications at a local level and alert management of all incidents.
- Contribute to the development of HSE training materials and programs.
- Ensure all related HSE data is entered into the company systems. (Incidents, Observations, ESG Data, etc.)
- Ensure that appropriate corrective actions are taken to eliminate hazards
- Ensure that unsafe acts and conditions are reported and corrected in a timely manner
- Liaise with relevant authorities where required.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current legislation by attending relevant training courses or seminars, contact with external organizations or bodies in order to be familiar with new and emerging developments in HSE.
- Participate in internal HSE audit process.
- Perform periodic and routine safety checks, HSE audits, and inspections on projects and facilities
- Schedule and lead regular HSE committee meetings.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Qualifications:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
- Knowledge of ISO45001 and/or ISO14001 standards.
Experience:
- Previous experience in an advisory role in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritise workload
