Job Summary
To develop and maintain Company Gas Standards relating to materials, operations & maintenance activities, construction practices, and engineering processes for transmission lines, distribution mains, service lines, measurement & regulation stations/settings, underground storage, LNG and associated assets. Manage all assignments in accordance with applicable federal, state, and industry standards and codes, ensuring safe, constructible, and cost effective operation of the gas system. Investigate material failures. Assess and approve new materials for Company use. Communicate effectively with all major stakeholders including Operations, Design Engineering, Major Projects, Compliance, Legal, and manufacturers/suppliers of materials & equipment.

Salary Range*:
$79,800.00 - $165,300.00
*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience , as well as internal pay equity .

Job Summary

Essential Functions
- Standards Creation and Revisions
- Acts as lead Engineer on major procedural implementations and updates.
- Industry representative and expert in areas of gas distribution and transmission regulatory policies and procedures.
- Train peers and business partners on regulatory policies and codes.
- Proactively identifies process improvement opportunities and takes action to enact change as a result.
- Benchmarks against other companies for best practices and acts to implement procedures that enhance safety and efficiency.
- Leads complex team projects.
- Provides peer leadership and support.
- Materials Approvals and Failure Investigations
- Expertise in materials used for gas distribution and transmission.
- Provides knowledge and expertise for field personnel and leadership across NiSource.
- Participates in industry teams focused on new technology and industry trends, implementing lessons learned at NiSource.
- Lead approval process for material and equipment approval requests.
- Leads annual Facility Failure Review (FFR) closings while providing coaching to other team members involved in the closings.
- Prepares and presents annual report to state DIMP steering committees.
- Leads teams focused on material implementation, removal, or alterations.
- Required Qualifications For Position
- Graduate from a college or university with a Bachelor of Science degree in a four-year ABET accredited Engineering program OR four-year ABET accredited Engineering Technology program
- 5+ years experience in related field.
- Knowledge of the SEAS process.
- Knowledge of computer applications, i.e., AutoCad, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, petroleum, welding, and/or civil engineering
- Understanding of basic engineering/technical theories and principles
- Understanding of basic practices of researching technical design issues, evaluating alternatives, and making sound recommendations.
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Comfort and ability to lead meetings with large audiences
- Ability to work effectively in diverse teams
- Support Company goals and represent the company positively and professionally
- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Upon Hire
- Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) and/or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure Upon Hire - Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)-PMI Project management capabilities and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification Upon Hire
