Job Description Summary

Engineering associated with the manufacturing process. Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Creating and maintaining CNC programs associated with various bending equipment.
  • Help develop shop tooling and procedures as well as qualification of equipment.
  • Trouble shoot issues on the floor and provide feedback to leadership as needed.
  • Give shop floor EE's technical guidance.
  • Identify, lead, and implement cost-out, quality, and EHS projects by utilizing available tools such as Lean Six Sigma methodology.
  • Providing economic justification for the purchase of capital equipment.
  • Uses own technical knowledge and discipline to execute policies/strategies.
  • Ability to autonomously make decisions when problem solving to resolve issues while working with more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions parameters.
  • Good interpersonal skills required to lead a junior team. For customer facing situations, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others.


Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree accredited college or university. (Or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in creating and maintaining CNC programs associated with various bending equipment.)
  • Four years of progressive experience in manufacturing positions (This may include, but is not limited to: Tool Building, Production, Inspection, Engineering or other related technical experience)
  • Proven ability to initiate and complete projects.
  • History of hands-on involvement with manufacturing issues.
  • Knowledge of tube fabrication (i.e. metal removal, metal forming, and fabrication techniques).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT:
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the
  • Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge in or be willing to take training in the following Basic Safety courses:
  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) GEAE000701 given during New Hire Orientation
  • Chemical Hazard (Hazcom-General) GEAE00023 given during New Hire Orientation
  • Chemical Hazard (Hazcom-Specific) GEAE00058 web-based training taken after moving into new work area.


Working Conditions:
  • Ability to work in an area where there is moderate noise intensity (85 to 8-9 dBa)
  • Ability to work in an area where, due to normal machining operations, there may be dust, fumes or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels (PEL))
  • Ability to work within demanding time constraints
  • Ability to work extended hours when needed
  • Mathematical Development
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions, decimals, and whole numbers
  • Ability to compute percentages
  • Ability to construct and interpret graphs and / or charts
  • Ability to communicate with customers on an as needed basis
  • Ability to communicate with Leader(s) on progress or status of a project.


  • Desired Characteristics:
  • CNC programming experience
  • Experience with tool / fixture design and build
  • Experience with Unigraphics, Solidworks, Inventor, or other 3D CAD software
  • Experience with tube bending programming software
  • Experience in Oracle, MAPICs or some type of ERP System
  • Excellent personal computer (PC) skills including Microsoft excel
  • Ability to set realistic, yet challenging project and operational goals
  • Trained in six sigma tools and applications
  • Familiar with Lean Manufacturing techniques
  • Experience in specifying and providing economic justification for purchase of capital equipment
  • Experience writing work instructions and training operators in those instructions
  • Familiarity with AL-231 Manufacturing Operation Sheets and / or AL-237 Quality Planning Maintenance
  • Proven ability to initiate and complete projects
  • Proven planning and leadership ability of multiple and concurrent projects
  • Effective oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to listen to and motivate others
  • History of hands-on involvement with manufacturing issues
