Job Title: EPC Senior Planning Engineer

Location: Atyrau, Kazakhstan (Project-Based)

Job Purpose

The Senior Planning Engineer plays a critical role in the successful execution of oil and gas EPC projects in Kazakhstan. This position is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules, ensuring that activities align with contractual milestones and resource availability. The engineer supports project teams by identifying risks, analyzing delays, and ensuring timely delivery through efficient planning and coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6, MS Project, and other relevant planning tools.
• Monitor project progress and performance against the baseline schedule, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure schedule alignment across all project phases.
• Prepare comprehensive planning reports including S-curves, resource histograms, and critical path analyses.
• Ensure proper integration of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) with planning and reporting tools for effective progress tracking.
• Conduct schedule risk analysis, delay assessments, and support in the preparation of Extension of Time (EOT) claims.
• Collaborate with cost control teams to integrate scheduling with cost forecasting, earned value management (EVM), and cash flow reporting.
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders to communicate project timelines and manage expectations.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior planning engineers, contributing to capability building within the project controls team.

   

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline

   

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in project planning
• At least 3 years in a relevant EPC project environment
• 2 years of GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) experience is a plus

Knowledge and Skills

• Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and planning software
• Strong understanding of EPC project lifecycle and planning methodologies
• Experience in delay analysis, CPM, and earned value management
• Excellent communication, coordination, and analytical skills
• ERP knowledge, preferably SAP, is essential for success in this role
