SUMMARY
Mortenson is currently seeking a PV Solar Design Engineer I that will be responsible for providing engineering support to project leadership during the design phase as it relates to Customer Experience, Site Layout, Energy Modeling, Contract Review, Electrical Design, and Equipment Specification that results in smooth transition to construction operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Generate detailed construction drawings in 2D and 3D software
Determine ground coverage ratios using varied racking technologies
Incorporate site constraints and setbacks
Assess/survey site conditions and anticipate construction issues
Produce energy production models in PVSyst and NREL System Advisor Model
Apply PPA and Interconnection requirements to electrical design
Align contract documents with performance testing standards
Perform string size calculations using Excel and database tools
Highlight differences between module types for customers
Develop relationships with field engineers and electrical engineers on project sites
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
Working knowledge of NEC code and NFPA standards a plus
Basic understanding of construction techniques and project management practices
Proficiency in AutoCAD and related Autodesk software or equivalent design software
Demonstrated electrical, structural, or mechanical design skills
Ability to generate accurate, highly detailed construction drawings
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Good problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
Proactive work ethic and accountability for work
Ability to thrive in a small, flexible, and dynamic work environment

The base pay range for this role is $79,000 MIN - $106,700 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
