Our Power System Operation Engineer position will give you the opportunity to develop and/or expand your knowledge about how power is generated, delivered across vast distances, and provided directly to our local customers. Your engineering expertise ensures it is done safely, efficiently, and reliably. You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of people who all play a role in keeping the power grid running, as you support all aspects of how electricity is utilized and managed. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Engineer ($81,166 - $101,458) - Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited university (bachelor's degree at a minimum), or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
• Engineer III ($93,342 - $116,678) - Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited university (bachelor's degree at a minimum), and at least three years of progressively responsible engineering experience in area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
• Senior Engineer ($107,342 - $134,178) - Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited university (bachelor's degree at a minimum), and at least six years of progressively responsible engineering experience in area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

CORE COMPETENCIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Provides engineering support including technical analysis, implementation, operation, and maintenance of SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) and network applications (state estimator and real-time contingency analyzer), power system simulator, and other department technical services. Aids in maintaining the plans, processes, and procedures required for grid operation and ensures full compliance with applicable regulatory standards related to assigned area. Analyzes and assists in transmission and distribution system outage coordination. Leads small to medium projects with minimal guidance. Assists with training and provides engineering support to System Operators and System Operator Trainers. Acts as on-call engineer, as assigned, outside normal working hours. Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

• Performs engineering studies and analyses related to grid operations including, but not limited to power flow, contingency analysis, system stability, and outage coordination, and maintains the applications needed to perform these tasks.
• Aids in maintaining necessary grid models to support power system operations including, but not limited to SCADA/EMS, network model, and operator training simulator.
• Aids in maintaining the internal control processes for ensuring compliance with the applicable regulatory standards in the System Operation department.
• Provides background information and documentation for management consideration on assigned projects and technical matters involving engineering theories, concepts, and principles.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

• Ability to understand circuit breakers, fuses, circuit switchers, transformers, shunt devices and other methods/devices used in the control of power flow, detection and isolation of power system faults.
