Position: Lead Scheduler
Location: Ras Laffan, Qatar
Contract Type: Permanent

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Lead Scheduler to join our team in the oil and gas sector. This role is responsible for developing and managing detailed work schedules for refinery or petrochemical plant projects. The successful candidate will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the effective and safe execution of scheduled tasks while maintaining compliance with safety protocols and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Planning & Scheduling:

  • Work Pack Development: Responsible for developing work packs that contain all relevant information, breaking down tasks into logical activities, and assigning necessary resources, tools, and equipment for safe and efficient execution.

  • Coordinating Services: Coordinate all supporting services for a particular job and conduct multi-discipline site visits to ensure that all work is accounted for in the plan.

  • Scheduling Activities: Create and manage detailed schedules using Primavera, ensuring that PM (Preventive Maintenance) and CM (Corrective Maintenance) work order activities are properly scheduled.

  • Scope Review & Scheduling: Study project scope and work packs to understand the sequence of activities, working closely with scope area leads to finalize schedules.

  • Look-Ahead Planning: Develop 14-day and 90-day look-ahead work plans, detailing different levels of work for contractors.

Collaboration & Coordination:

  • Multi-Discipline Coordination: Coordinate across multiple disciplines to ensure that the required work is captured in the schedule and all dependencies are identified.

  • Process Equipment Knowledge: Apply thorough knowledge of various process equipment, including pressure vessels, tanks, columns, trays, furnaces, exchangers, valves, and rotating equipment.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and guidelines during all phases of planning and execution.

  • Have a strong understanding of petrochemical plant safety hazards and incorporate safety measures into scheduling processes.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • Proficiency in English (speak, read, and write).

  • Proficiency in SAP and Primavera scheduling software.

Minimum Work Experience:

  • At least 12 years of experience in refinery or petrochemical oil and gas plant scheduling.

  • Strong supervisory experience, particularly in multi-craft supervision.

  • Thorough knowledge of pressure vessels, tanks, columns, trays, furnaces, exchangers, and various types of valves.

  • In-depth knowledge of rotating equipment.

  • Strong understanding of CMMS, maintenance programs, and related practices and procedures.

Job-Specific Skills (Generic/Technical):

  • Experience in scheduling PM and CM work order activities.

  • Ability to prepare detailed schedules using Primavera for various maintenance and project activities.

  • Ability to develop look-ahead plans (14-day, 90-day) with varying levels of detail for contractor activities.

  • Good understanding of piping systems, gaskets, and bolting materials (PEFS and piping class).

  • Ability to identify, analyze, and schedule activities effectively, ensuring all work is captured and coordinated across disciplines.
