The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Vibration Engineer (Reciprocating Machinery) within the Wood Asset Life Optimisation (ALO) group contributing to the delivery of vibration, dynamics and noise engineering consultancy services to the internal Wood business units and to Wood's external client base. This role is primarily based in Wood offices but will also require on-site support, both onshore and offshore for high-profile clients.

The key objectives for this role are:
- Identifying vibration patterns and diagnosing faults in reciprocating machinery.
- Preventing excessive vibrations caused by resonance and harmonic frequencies.
- Evaluating the impact of vibrations on mechanical components to prevent fatigue failure.
- Implementing vibration monitoring techniques to detect early signs of wear and tear.
- Enhancing machine design to minimize vibration effects and improve efficiency.
- Using specialized software for vibration modeling and analysis
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for data collection and gathering of information of multiple sources for preparation of vibration studies.
- Completing API 618 based pulsation and mechanical analysis of reciprocating compressors
- Completing API 674 based pulsation and mechanical analysis of pumps
- Completing Piping Vibration screening assessments and studies based on the Energy Institute 'Guidelines for the Avoidance of Vibration Induced Fatigue Failure in Process Pipework'.
- Completing pipe stress analysis and compliance checks aligned with ASME B31.1 and B31.3.
- Supporting field measurement campaigns in support of vibration troubleshooting of piping concerns.
- Represent the Vibration, Dynamics and Noise discipline on contract / project / service line.
- Supporting vibration studies in support of projects at FEED, EPC and/or operational phases.
- Proactively supports the introduction of innovation, new ideas and practices to improve overall performance.
Interpersonal Skills
- Comfortable to complete site based work (12 hr shifts, upto 21 days continuous) on- and offshore globally
- Comfortable presenting project results and group competencies to existing and potential clients
- Continually seek to develop Wood technical services, procedures, tools and technical resources

The key high-level aspects of the role are as follows:
- Contributes to the successful completion of vibration engineering workscopes and consultancy services as directed by immediate supervisor.
- Assists in the development of vibration engineering deliverables including API618/ API674 based pulsation and dynamic studies.
- Supports senior technical professionals in field vibration measurement campaigns, both onshore and offshore.
- Performs routine aspects of vibration engineering assignments and collaborates with experienced technical professionals for non-routine aspects.
- Solves problems of a routine nature within clearly defined procedures.

Expected:
- Minimum 5 years working in the on- and offshore oil and gas industry.
- Demonstrable technical experience in reciprocating machinery, vibration, and engineering project management.
- Competent in the application of reciprocating machinery standards API618 and API674.
- Understanding of the application of various simulation packages used by Wood VDN (FEA, acoustic, pulsation, etc) Specific experience in the use of such packages (e.g. ANSYS, Caesar, PULS/BOSFluids, MAPAK) is desirable.
- Competent in performing vibration, dynamic stress (bonded and friction gauges), dynamic pressure and noise measurements as required (at onshore and offshore sites across EMEA).
- Understanding of process-related, operational and other common excitation sources and able to collect all information relating to these in support of project goals.
Additional desirable experience
- Working knowledge of performing vibration, dynamic stress, dynamic pressure and noise measurements
- Experience in basic high level coding languages for engineering analysis (e.g. MATLAB, C+, FAMOS)
- Additional machinery analysis experience - surge, skid dynamic, rotordynamic and performance
- Knowledge of rotating machinery - centrifugal, screw and turbomachinery
- Knowledge and application of piping and static equipment industry standards (i.e. ASME B31.1, B31.3)
