Position Description
Performs gas engineering studies and evaluates alternative designs or processes related to facilities. Specifies or validates all gas materials and/or equipment required on assigned projects. Creates/Maintains hydraulic models utilizing Synergi Gas for each of the systems statewide and uses results for recommendations for system improvements and budgetary purposes. Support UNS Gas initiatives and vision to ensure successful business model objectives. Assure utilization of fuel gas engineering practices and compliance with all Local, State, and Federal laws including but not limited to Arizona's Pipeline Safety Rules Title 14 Chapter 5, Code of Federal Regulations Title 49 Parts 190 through 199, API 1104, Gas Engineers Handbook, and the Clean Water Act.
Position-Related Responsibilities specific to Level I & II
• Assists departmental staff members with GIS, pipeline design, as-built, and Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) evaluation and redesign.
• Works closely with Right-of-Way Agent, on projects of local nature, with direction from TEP's Land Resources Department with all Right of Way functionality.
• Leads effort to meet or exceed internal and external customer satisfaction. Fosters communication and teamwork in a diverse work environment and leads by example.
• Manages company resources in programs relating to designing and maintaining safety in construction and maintenance activities.
• Ensure work is in conformance and/or compliance with federal pipeline safety codes (DOT Part 190, through 199). Interprets code and provides input to management to modify programs, as necessary, to meet pipeline safety compliance.
• Stay abreast with all federal, state, and local laws and requirements dealing with day-to-day natural gas pipeline operations. Responds as necessary, to emergency conditions throughout the local service area.
• Design and create construction drawings for Interconnects, Regulator Stations, and Large Metering Stations in conjunction with the Measurement personnel.
• Work closely with all District Personnel and provide various support functionality.
• All other related duties as required.
• This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.
• Position requires occasional travel throughout UESG territories.
Position-Related Responsibilities specific to Level II
• Forecasts, prepares, and analyzes annual capital and operating budgets for the department.
• Perform various engineering calculations such as SMYS, Bending, External Loading, Blasting, Etc.
• Analyzes gas piping systems through the use of Synergi Gas, and makes recommendations for system improvements to District Managers.
• Assists Materials/Standards Compliance personnel with creation of materials standards, and material descriptions for all material approved for use within the gas distribution and transmission systems.
• Assists with procedure/form development and edits.
• Assists with material failure investigation and reporting.
• Assists with other various engineering analysis tasks as necessary.
• Assists District warehouse personnel and Procurement with individual and statewide material inventories.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities specific to Levels I & II
• 1-3 years' experience in the gas industry or engineering field.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (BSME) preferred, but other engineering degrees and experience will be considered.
• Gas utility experience or exposure preferred
• Basic knowledge of GIS/CAD applications
• Natural gas facilities construction experience preferred
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written and proficiency in conducting productive meetings.
• Effective critical listening, analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Effective time management with demonstrated ability to multi-task priorities and deliver assignments on schedule.
• Competent computer skills in Office 365 applications
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and to effectively participate in a team project to achieve required functionality within budget and timeframe.

Position Description
Performs gas engineering studies and evaluates alternative designs or processes related to facilities. Specifies or validates all gas materials and/or equipment required on assigned projects. Creates/Maintains hydraulic models utilizing Synergi Gas for each of the systems statewide and uses results for recommendations for system improvements and budgetary purposes. Support UNS Gas initiatives and vision to ensure successful business model objectives. Assure utilization of fuel gas engineering practices and compliance with all Local, State, and Federal laws including but not limited to Arizona's Pipeline Safety Rules Title 14 Chapter 5, Code of Federal Regulations Title 49 Parts 190 through 199, API 1104, Gas Engineers Handbook, and the Clean Water Act.
Position-Related Responsibilities specific to Level I & II
• Assists departmental staff members with GIS, pipeline design, as-built, and Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) evaluation and redesign.
• Works closely with Right-of-Way Agent, on projects of local nature, with direction from TEP's Land Resources Department with all Right of Way functionality.
• Leads effort to meet or exceed internal and external customer satisfaction. Fosters communication and teamwork in a diverse work environment and leads by example.
• Manages company resources in programs relating to designing and maintaining safety in construction and maintenance activities.
• Ensure work is in conformance and/or compliance with federal pipeline safety codes (DOT Part 190, through 199). Interprets code and provides input to management to modify programs, as necessary, to meet pipeline safety compliance.
• Stay abreast with all federal, state, and local laws and requirements dealing with day-to-day natural gas pipeline operations. Responds as necessary, to emergency conditions throughout the local service area.
• Design and create construction drawings for Interconnects, Regulator Stations, and Large Metering Stations in conjunction with the Measurement personnel.
• Work closely with all District Personnel and provide various support functionality.
• All other related duties as required.
• This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.
• Position requires occasional travel throughout UESG territories.
Position-Related Responsibilities specific to Level II
• Forecasts, prepares, and analyzes annual capital and operating budgets for the department.
• Perform various engineering calculations such as SMYS, Bending, External Loading, Blasting, Etc.
• Analyzes gas piping systems through the use of Synergi Gas, and makes recommendations for system improvements to District Managers.
• Assists Materials/Standards Compliance personnel with creation of materials standards, and material descriptions for all material approved for use within the gas distribution and transmission systems.
• Assists with procedure/form development and edits.
• Assists with material failure investigation and reporting.
• Assists with other various engineering analysis tasks as necessary.
• Assists District warehouse personnel and Procurement with individual and statewide material inventories.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities specific to Levels I & II
• 1-3 years' experience in the gas industry or engineering field.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (BSME) preferred, but other engineering degrees and experience will be considered.
• Gas utility experience or exposure preferred
• Basic knowledge of GIS/CAD applications
• Natural gas facilities construction experience preferred
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written and proficiency in conducting productive meetings.
• Effective critical listening, analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Effective time management with demonstrated ability to multi-task priorities and deliver assignments on schedule.
• Competent computer skills in Office 365 applications
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and to effectively participate in a team project to achieve required functionality within budget and timeframe.
• Valid AZ driver's license and will submit to Company pre-employment and DOT/PHMSA random drug testing as required.
• Must be able to travel, including overnight travel and on a moment's notice.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities specific to Level II
• 3 years' experience in the gas industry and engineering field.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (BSME), but other Engineering Degrees will be considered
• Experience with and working knowledge of GIS/CAD Systems.
• Must have competent knowledge of hydraulic modeling/system analysis applications (Synergi Gas preferred)
• Demonstrated effectiveness as a department lead with the ability to define business solutions using the appropriate technology and/or process solution.
• Must possess a working knowledge of DOT, State, and Company policies and procedures including-CFR's Part 199, 191, 192, AZ Revised Statutes, AZ Administrative Code, and Company O&M, Emergency, Construction, Engineering, Measurement, Corrosion, and General Procedures.
