PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interface with relevant departments to obtain a thorough understanding of NOV products and how they are safely operated, tested, calibrated, and how problems are resolved in a timely manner.
- Travel to customer sites to inspect, install, commission, test, calibrate, repair and train customers on the safe and proper operation of NOV products.
- Perform field upgrades of software and hardware and train customers on how to properly operate the system.
- Communicate field failures and feedback reports to the appropriate departments.
- Collaborate with engineering, sales, and internal service teams to provide a seamless customer experience.
- Represent the company with professionalism and maintain a strong customer focus at all times.
- Complete and submit field service documentation in a timely manner.
- Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area; utilize safe work habits.
- Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install, commission, troubleshoot, inspect, and repair drilling equipment.
- Provide training to other NOV Field Service Technicians.
- Provide accurate and timely reports to appropriate personnel regarding work progress and output.
- Lead a group of Field Service Technicians for the duration of a project.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3 years' mechanical experience required.
- Minimum 3 years' experience with use of machinist inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
- Offshore experience required.
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics and basic electrical drawings required.
- Working knowledge of NDE inspection methods (Penetrant testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, and Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing) required.
- Experience with Subsea Drilling Riser required.
- Microsoft Office knowledge is required (specifically Excel/Word).
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to pass a drug screen & background check.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must be willing & able to work a 24-7 on-call schedule as needed.
- Must be able to secure a TWIC Card and US Passport.
- Offshore travel required (domestic and international).
- Must be able to pass offshore safety classes including, but not limited to offshore water survival (HUET), firefighting, and basic offshore safety induction training (BOSIET).
- Must obtain NOV corporate credit card and maintain an active status per NOV credit card policy.
- Must possess strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- A trainable attitude and a high level of self-motivation are required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high stress, team environment for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to comply with all safety regulations and procedures.
- Ability to interact effectively with customers and contractor personnel.
- Work in harsh environments including rain, snow, heat, and heights in excess of 150 feet.
- Must provide transportation from home to the office. Transportation to customer's location will be provided.
