The Technology & Innovation Manager for Industries will lead the development of technology, platforms, and portfolios for ABB Robotics' functional modules and application cells within the Industries segment.

This role is responsible for ensuring the availability of scalable global platforms built on competitive and innovative technical solutions. You will translate customer needs into clear product requirements and performance targets, define and execute technology and architectural roadmaps, and govern global platforms throughout the full R&D lifecycle-approving both architectural and technical solutions.

Key responsibilities include increasing technology readiness levels and ensuring optimal system design during both technology and product development phases. You will also develop and oversee robust development processes to support long-term innovation and scalability. You will have end-to-end responsibility for engineering change management-covering both existing products and those in development-while ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, standards, and internal policies.

In this role, you are expected to challenge the status quo by introducing state-of-the-art technologies, modern development methodologies, and effective governance models. Your forward-thinking mindset will help position technology as a key enabler of future business opportunities in robotics.

Key responsibilities:

• Define and lead the innovation and technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with business strategy and long-term goals.
• Oversee global technology development, including project portfolios, R&D requests, and cross-stakeholder governance.
• Establish design standards and technical criteria to enable scalable, consistent product development and efficient change management.
• Drive standardization and industrialization to enhance product platforms, reduce complexity, and accelerate time-to-market.
• Lead and develop a global team of ~30 engineers, providing architectural guidance and ensuring effective collaboration across regions and cultures.

Qualifications:

• MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or a related field, with 10+ years of experience in product development and technology management.
• 5+ years in international roles, with proven ability to operate in a global, cross-cultural environment.
• Strong expertise in robotics and AI, including deep understanding of the full robot lifecycle and product platform/modularity principles.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to influence across complex, global organizations.
