Job Title: Lead Planner
Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

We are currently seeking a highly experienced Lead Planner to join a major project team in the energy sector. This role involves leading the planning and scheduling process for large-scale projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring accurate and timely delivery of planning outputs.

Role Overview
The Lead Planner will lead the schedule development and progress tracking activities, working with planners and project teams to align the execution plan with project goals. The role includes critical path analysis, schedule forecasting, KPI reporting, and risk-based scenario planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and scheduling process using Primavera P6 for assigned projects

• Coordinate with discipline leads to incorporate the execution plan into the overall master schedule

• Supervise and guide a team of project planners, if required

• Provide schedule reports including look-aheads, critical path analyses, and what-if scenarios

• Develop and maintain S-Curves and KPIs using MS Excel for reporting purposes

• Prepare planning narratives and input to weekly and monthly client reports

• Review Level 4 schedules and progress systems submitted by contractors

• Monitor progress across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and installation

• Identify resource optimisation opportunities and recommend improvements

• Define and track contractor deliverable timings to minimise project delays

• Support change management and risk mitigation through planning insights

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years’ planning experience in the oil and gas industry, or

• 12 years’ planning experience in other industries with strong understanding of FPSO and oil & gas processes

• Proven experience in a senior planning role on large-scale projects

• Proficient in planning tools such as Primavera P6 and MS Excel

• Strong knowledge of project management, risk, and change management principles

• Excellent communication and coordination skills

• Ability to lead planning activities independently and proactively manage challenges
