Position Summary:
We seek an experienced Renewables Category Manager to lead strategic sourcing and supplier management for renewable energy projects within our organization. This role is instrumental in optimizing cost, quality, and risk in the supply chain while supporting our mission to deliver sustainable energy solutions in the construction and energy project management space. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, category management, and renewable technologies such as solar, wind, battery storage, and emerging clean tech.

Position Summary:
We seek an experienced Renewables Category Manager to lead strategic sourcing and supplier management for renewable energy projects within our organization. This role is instrumental in optimizing cost, quality, and risk in the supply chain while supporting our mission to deliver sustainable energy solutions in the construction and energy project management space. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, category management, and renewable technologies such as solar, wind, battery storage, and emerging clean tech.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Manage category suppliers to proactively identify, monitor and optimize opportunities
- Lead end-to-end procurement processes including RFPs, contract negotiations, and support Develop strategic partnerships with key suppliers and contractors.
- supplier selection.
- Work closely with Procurement and other cross-functional partners to onboard new category partners/suppliers/providers.
- Work closely with project management, engineering, legal, and finance teams to align sourcing activities with project goals and timelines.
- Support project managers by interpreting contract terms and conditions and advising on risk exposure and mitigation.
- Liaise with legal counsel when necessary on complex or high-risk contracts.
- Support Sales and Customer Operations as a subject matter expertise in renewable energy
- Support the Redaptive technical expertise team with developing and implementing best practices for supplier audits and proposals, focusing on sustainability, efficiency, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with suppliers to improve processes, quality, and efficiency in proposals and deliverables.
- Develop and execute category strategies for renewable energy components and services (e.g., solar panels, inverters, wind turbines, energy storage systems, EPC services).
- Conduct market analysis and identify emerging trends, technologies, and suppliers in the renewables sector.
- Understand pricing and fair market costs for the renewables market
- Leverage industry expertise to evaluate supplier capabilities, cost drivers, and risk profiles.
- Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation plans.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate standards, and sustainability goals.
- Ensure category suppliers and service provider profiles are accurate and up to date with all required information
- Analyze and programmatically manage all supplier partners to meet customer and Redaptive expectations. Own the supplier performance management of their respective commodities, which includes key delivery, quality, cost, and innovation metrics
- Review detailed contracts, SOW's, client and service provider agreements
- Understand and support our SSA/SA creation for project installations
- Support site audit and customer maintenance programs
- Collaborate internally, negotiate the right tradeoffs, solicit cooperation and resolve problems, and advance new supplier or product offerings
- Develop & execute commercial agreements to properly reflect the expectations of project, which include fixed and variable costs, lead-times, schedules, manufacturing capacities, etc
Required Abilities and Skills:
- Strong knowledge of renewable energy technologies and project management principles.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in procurement software, ERP/CRM's (NetSuite & Salesforce) and Microsoft Office
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and contract management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a matrix organization.
- Expertise in energy engineering principles and energy efficiency technologies.
- Excellent communication skills
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal and external technical stakeholders.
- Ability to scale technical processes and deliverables.
- Can wear different hats and it a strong team player to help your team move forward.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, category management, or supply chain management, preferably in the renewable energy or construction industry.
- Experience in energy, utilities, EPC, or construction project management environments.
- Experience with energy storage and grid integration projects.
- Experience managing internal workflow between sales and operations
- Familiarity with technical project management tools and software is a plus.
