Position Title: Sr. Mechanical Engineer (Umbilical & Power Cable)

Location: Office-based, Qatar

Contract Type: Until October 2029

Role Purpose:

Provide technical design and engineering services for subsea umbilical and power cable offshore engineering projects. Ensure technical quality of work in line with standards, considering schedule, cost, quality, and HSE requirements. Lead engineering activities from concept through FEED, detailed design, and commissioning phases.

Key Accountabilities:

• Lead the design and engineering of subsea umbilical and power cable systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and codes.
• Conduct site surveys and provide engineering studies and detailed design solutions for subsea facilities.
• Ensure adherence to technical assurance practices, engineering standards, and environmental and safety policies.
• Support the development, update, and application of engineering standards.
• Manage and coordinate a multidisciplinary team of engineers to deliver technical services on schedule.
• Review and approve contractor method statements and resolve technical issues.
• Develop and monitor engineering schedules and contribute to project planning activities.
• Evaluate vendor technical bid packages and contract variations for compliance.
• Act as the technical lead and focal point for subsea facilities matters.
• Coordinate interfaces between contractors, operations, and other stakeholders.
• Provide onshore and offshore technical support during construction, commissioning, and start-up.
• Mentor and train junior subsea engineers.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer/Professional Engineer status is preferable.
• Minimum 15 years relevant experience, with at least 10 years in Oil & Gas.

Competencies:

• Proficiency with pipeline engineering and analysis software (e.g., AUTOPIPE, CAESAR, Orcaflex, ABAQUS).
• Strong knowledge of offshore pipeline mechanical and stress design.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with focus on time, cost, and quality.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
