Position Title: Safety Officer
Location: Offshore - 29x27, Qatar
Contract Length: April 2026
Role Purpose:
Provide technical health, safety, and environmental (HSE) support during all phases of offshore construction projects, ensuring that all activities are conducted in compliance with HSE standards, policies, and procedures. Foster a proactive safety culture aligned with corporate values and regulatory expectations.
Key Accountabilities:
- Deliver HSE oversight for during definition, detailed design, construction, and commissioning phases of offshore projects.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the project site.
- Support the identification and implementation of risk mitigation measures based on hazard assessments.
- Review contractor submissions including method statements, JSAs, safety certifications, and HSE plans.
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor site activities to ensure alignment with approved safety documentation and permit systems.
- Oversee field HSE compliance by contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Conduct daily inspections, audits, and participate in incident investigations using tools such as TapRoot, SafetyCulture, or Tripod Beta.
- Support implementation of HSE performance monitoring systems, initiatives, and objectives.
- Review contractors' HSE documentation, including personnel CVs and competence assessments.
- Enforce adherence to national and international HSE legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Maintain project HSE risk register and support risk mitigation tracking.
- Conduct HSE awareness sessions, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and audits.
- Assist in the preparation of statistical reports and safety performance trends.
- Provide input to the continuous improvement of HSE codes, standards, and specifications.
Qualifications:
- HND, University Degree (preferably in Engineering), or Accredited HSE Professional Certificate.
- Associate membership of a recognized safety institution is desirable.
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of occupational health and safety experience, specifically within the oil, gas, and petrochemical sectors.
- Proven background in managing HSE for construction projects, both greenfield and brownfield.
- Strong knowledge of international safety standards such as ISO 45001:2018.
- Familiarity with environmental management systems and incident investigation software.
- Proficient in MS Office applications and relevant HSE reporting tools.
- Experience in the GCC region is preferred.
