Welding Specialist - Tanzania

On behalf of a major operator, WRS are currently seeking a skilled Welding Specialist to support a major pipeline infrastructure project in Tanzania. This is a 12-month renewable contract position with a rotational schedule of 8 weeks on-site and 2 weeks off, paying a day rate in USD. The successful candidate will provide expert oversight of welding activities, ensuring technical compliance, quality assurance, and safe execution across vendors and contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and approve welding-related documentation from vendors and contractors.
• Conduct technical audits of welding systems and processes.
• Provide clarification on project specifications and international standards.
• Oversee and approve welding procedure and personnel qualifications.
• Develop and implement a Welding Qualification Management Strategy (WQMS).
• Witness and approve welding procedure qualification tests (WPQTs).
• Prepare RFIs to ensure compliance with welding requirements.
• Mentor team members on HSE standards and corporate ethics.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Engineering or Metallurgy.
• Certified European or International Welding Engineer.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in pipeline welding, including field and shop operations.
• At least 8 years in senior welding engineering roles within the oil & gas industry.
• Experience working on pipeline construction projects
• Experience working for an Oil & Gas operator
• Deep knowledge of international codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME).
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and project compliance requirements.
