On behalf of a major operator, WRS are currently seeking a skilled Welding Specialist to support a major pipeline infrastructure project in Tanzania. This is a 12-month renewable contract position with a rotational schedule of 8 weeks on-site and 2 weeks off, paying a day rate in USD. The successful candidate will provide expert oversight of welding activities, ensuring technical compliance, quality assurance, and safe execution across vendors and contractors.

The successful candidate will provide expert oversight of welding activities, ensuring technical compliance, quality assurance, and safe execution across vendors and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and approve welding-related documentation from vendors and contractors.
- Conduct technical audits of welding systems and processes.
- Provide clarification on project specifications and international standards.
- Oversee and approve welding procedure and personnel qualifications.
- Develop and implement a Welding Qualification Management Strategy (WQMS).
- Witness and approve welding procedure qualification tests (WPQTs).
- Prepare RFIs to ensure compliance with welding requirements.
- Mentor team members on HSE standards and corporate ethics.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Engineering or Metallurgy.
- Certified European or International Welding Engineer.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in pipeline welding, including field and shop operations.
- At least 8 years in senior welding engineering roles within the oil & gas industry.
- Experience working on pipeline construction projects
- Experience working for an Oil & Gas operator
- Deep knowledge of international codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME).
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and project compliance requirements.
