About the Role
A leading offshore energy project is seeking a highly skilled Cost Engineer to support cost planning, forecasting, and reporting activities across major capital projects, including FPSO developments. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic project controls team operating at the heart of a complex and globally recognised offshore programme.
As a Cost Engineer, you will take ownership of project cost control plans for designated scopes of work and collaborate with engineering, procurement, and finance teams to ensure accurate budget tracking, forecasting, and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed cost control plans aligned with industry standards and company tools
- Set up and manage cost breakdown structures (CBS) and allocate budgets and resources
- Monitor commitments and actual costs for assigned project scope(s)
- Produce accurate forecasts and challenge variances from the approved cost baseline
- Generate cost reports regularly, reconciling with financial and accounting records
- Review contractor invoices, ensuring alignment with budget codes and approved values
- Maintain registers for change orders and variations impacting cost forecasts
- Coordinate closely with other functions to ensure timely and accurate cost data flow
- Support project risk management with cost impact analysis and contingency planning
- Perform cost risk analysis using internal tools and best practices
- Guide and support less experienced team members in cost control processes
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering, Science, Business, or Operations Management
- AACE certification (CCT or CCP) is preferred
- Minimum 8 years of cost engineering experience in the oil & gas industry or 12+ years in other industries with sound knowledge of FPSO or offshore oil & gas processes
- Prior experience in a senior cost control role is an advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (preferably SAP)
- Familiarity with risk quantification or cost analysis software (advantageous)
