Position Description
The core functions of the Senior Power System Engineer include undertaking grid modelling studies, grid connection management, and relevant reporting:
Conduct grid connection dynamic studies, analysis, and performance tuning for solar and BESS projects in TNSP, DNSP, and utility-scale microgrid connections.
Manage client grid connection inquiries and troubleshoot model issues.
Collaborate with stakeholders to manage project grid connection processes from R0 to R2.
Liaise with headquarters to gain a solid understanding of hardware, software, and product modelling, and develop technical solutions to complex connection issues.
Prepare deliverables for generator performance standard (GPS) connection study packages and technical white papers.
Participate in onsite R2 Hold Point tests, providing technical support and preparing technical notes and reports.
Support commercial teams on project tendering by delivering grid connection capability and technical sales input.
Stay updated on market trends, develop and maintain client relationships, and identify project opportunities.
Remain informed on the latest grid connection regulatory changes, Australian standards, and technological advancements in inverter-based renewable generation.
About You
Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.
Knowledge of National Electricity Rules (NER), connection processes, and compliance requirements.
Understanding of inverter-based resource (IBR) control systems, design, and operation preferred.
Experience in grid connection study, analysis, and generator tuning.
Demonstrated experience with PSCAD/EMTDC, PSS®E, or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
Strong analytical and project management skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
