Wood are actively seeking Expressions of Interest for Lead Mechanical Engineer (O) role to support future growth in our expanding business.
The projects team focusing on delivering across FEED, Pre-FEED, Brownfield, Greenfield scopes of work. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of project work in accordance with the project execution plan, including Wood and/or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control within the man-hour, cost and the project schedule targets.

This is a long-term assignment based in Qatar.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Lead Mechanical Engineer (O) will be responsible for:
  • Provide technical assurance of Process designs through appropriate application of Shell technical standards and specifications, implementation of DCAF and review of design deliverables and activities.
  • Ensure schedule and cost considerations are included in design decisions, while maintaining primary responsibility to assure safe and appropriate quality designs.
  • Ensure rotating Engineering activities are executed in alignment with Shell's Project Delivery Roadmap and Opportunity Realization Process.
  • Delivery of the Rotating equipment engineering scope for assigned projects, ensuring flawless start-up of Equipment and compliance with agreed HSSE practices and procedures as defined under the QSGTL HSSE management system.
  • Act as Lead rotating equipment focal point in the review and preparation of engineering deliverables ranging from engineering study deliverables to RFC packages, commissioning procedures, ITPs, Material Requisition, Technical Bid Evaluations, etc.
  • Drive technical assurance: Assure engineering and construction of rotating equipment engineering discipline scope is carried out in compliance with required project standards and specifications, including DEM1 and DEM2 standards.
  • Participate in engineering reviews regarding rotating equipment engineering discipline, witnessing of Factory Acceptance Tests, as required and participate in safety and quality audits and field reviews as required.
  • Drive installation quality, working with Construction contractor and QPH Construction team and provide technical support for commissioning and/or startup of Rotating Equipment where applicable.
  • To be fully familiar and up to date with latest Shell and Industry standards and ensure compliance of projects design with these latest standards. To be fully familiar with Shell TAMAP, EFAs and SPEP for rotating equipment
  • Support COMPANY in auditing construction field activities for compliance and assist in resolution of field non-conformance issues as required.
  • Ensure design meets requirements of Shell's HSSE Framework.
  • Design and develop, as required, innovative technical approaches to the broader process engineering issues and contribute to continuous business improvement initiatives (fit for purpose)
  • Provide (one stop shop) rotating equipment engineering support and delivery for QPH projects.
  • Accountability for process engineering deliverables and engineering execution planning support including provision of senior engineering expertise.
  • Drive and delivery of an ever-increasing effectiveness and efficiency in producing project designs, through Elimination, Simplification, Standardisation and Automation balanced against the need for Top Quartile FEL in, and quality designs for the Qatar Project Delivery Hub projects.
  • Lead Management of Repeated Failures for respective discipline

Experience:
  • BSc., University in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience and Skill set
  • Minimum 15 years experience in Brown Field Oil and Gas related Rotating mechanical Design and Engineering
  • Performs as a professional rotating equipment engineer for projects and plant modifications from Front End Development through execution / commissioning and start-up.
  • Technical support for operation and maintenance of rotating equipment
  • Testing, installation, commissioning and start-up of rotating equipment
  • Design, selection and specification of rotating equipment, drivers, ancillaries, transmission, safeguarding & monitoring system
