NES Fircroft is actively seeking an experienced Chemical or Mechanical Engineer for a Project Engineering position with our client at a site in Marissa, IL about an hour southeast of St. Louis! This position will be a full-time contract role with our client and will be focused on supporting the Capital Projects Team and Project Manager at the site.

JOB SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Comply with Client Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Apply Project Engineering principles and the client Capital Project Management SOP to enable successful execution and delivery of the project to ultimately meet customer requirements and deliver the business benefits.
- Actively monitor and control all aspects of project to deliver best for Company outcome (juggling the priorities).
- Continuously look to improve project performance/results.
- Liaise regularly with the Project Sponsor to ensure the business and project requirements are being met.
- Actively promote safe work practices and the adherence to relevant OH&S management systems, processes, and behaviors continuously.
- Appropriately manage scope to ensure delivery of customer requirements and business case; actively watch for scope creep and/or descoping decisions that devalue project benefits.
- Actively monitor and update project schedule to reflect actual progress and be aware of current or emerging schedule issues, taking corrective actions and monitoring outcomes.
- Actively monitor project costs and maintain standard cost management tools. Be aware of current/emerging cost issues, taking corrective actions and monitoring outcomes.
- Actively monitors and manages risk throughout the project.
- Actively documents lessons learnt and feeds back into broader organization.
- All other duties as requested or assigned.
- Travel – 50%
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Minimum 10 years’ experience of direct project engineering responsibility for projects with budgets up to $100MM.
- Must have hands-on experience in all aspects of project management best practices.
- Experience in large commercial organization or engineering organizations.
- Deep technical expertise in Project Management.
- Operating experience while not essential would be valued.
- High competency in Microsoft Office Suite of products.
- Advanced project scheduling skills with experience in Microsoft Project/Primavera including schedule development and maintenance desirable.
- Ability to understand and willingness to follow corporate policies and procedures for Capital Project Management.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering Required
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in a functional role
- PMP certified or have the ability to be certified within 6 months of hire.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee should possess the ability to:
- Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
- Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out
- Prolong standing or in stationary position
- Complete repetitive movements
- Bend and/or twist
- Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
- Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
- Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision, and hardhat protection)
