Role Overview
The EHS Specialist will provide Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) operational support to the Clearwater facility. You will work closely with the site EHS Leader and Operations team to drive implementation of programs to ensure all federal, state, and local EHS regulatory and GE Aerospace management system requirements are met.

Role Overview
The EHS Specialist will provide Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) operational support to the Clearwater facility. You will work closely with the site EHS Leader and Operations team to drive implementation of programs to ensure all federal, state, and local EHS regulatory and GE Aerospace management system requirements are met.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Direct the implementation of occupational safety, health, and environmental programs with a high level of expertise. Standards include Confined Space, Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, NFPA 70E/Electrical safety, Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene and Machine Guarding, etc.
- Support air, waste, and water compliance for the Clearwater site.
- Support reporting and licensing/permitting efforts to ensure regulatory compliance including RCRA, EPCRA, air, and stormwater.
- Prepare and submit required documentation and reports, including RCRA Permit, EPCRA (Tier II and TRI), and other EPA regulations.
- Perform safety risk analysis and evaluate effectiveness of defenses to mitigate employee injury.
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs to a variety of audiences (managers and trades personnel) and manage documentation accordingly.
- Lead investigations, develop true root cause, implement corrective actions, and track actions to closure for all EHS-related events.
- Facilitate safety coordinator meetings, ensuring they are effective and focused on addressing safety concerns.
- Initiate actions to prevent accidents from both conditions and acts/behaviors in partnership with EHS Leader.
- Investigate EHS related accidents and near-misses, implement corrective actions, and track corrective actions to closure.
- Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards.
- Encourage and promote the use of safe work rules, equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Participate in and lead emergency responses and address employee concerns.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 7 years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety roles)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety roles
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety roles.
- Significant experience with NFPA 70E/Electrical safety and environmental regulations.
- Safety certifications such as OSHA 501, OSHA-30, OSHA 511, EHS Specialist, CSP, ASP, etc.
- Strong communication, leadership, facilitation, and project management skills with the ability to speak effectively with influence on various stakeholders.
- Experience leading and motivating teams to bring a strong positive attitude toward change.
- Effective problem identification and solution skills.
