Rigless Wellwork Engineer
Location: Qatar
Job Purpose
Plan and prepare rigless well work operations for production and injection wells operated. Ensure all interventions are conducted safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, while adhering to the highest standards of HSE and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Annual Wellwork Planning

Develop and maintain the Annual Rigless Wellwork Plan, coordinating with internal stakeholders and service providers.

Monitor execution progress and revise the plan as needed to optimize resources and well utilization.

Interface with Onshore/Offshore Operations, Maintenance, Projects, Drilling & Completions, Petroleum Engineering, SEQ, and Supply Chain for seamless execution.
Operational Readiness & Execution

Lead preparation for all rigless well interventions, ensuring all resources, tools, and services are in place.

Plan and execute technologically complex wellwork involving high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) and toxic gas wells.

Conduct pre-job safety and operations meetings, aligning all stakeholders and contractors.

Facilitate post-job reviews, implementing lessons learned to drive continuous improvement.
Contracts & Cost Control

Collaborate with the Supply Department to initiate and manage contracts for rigless wellwork services.

Oversee contract administration post-award (ITP issuance, contractor performance reviews, and PG release).

Review invoices and monitor service contract costs to ensure budget adherence.
Technical Governance & Improvement

Develop and maintain the Standard Well Intervention Manual (SWIM) to ensure technical alignment with internal and international standards.

Identify, evaluate, and implement new technologies and tools to enhance rigless wellwork performance.

Conduct technical studies and support engineering initiatives as directed by the Head of Well Engineering.
Project & Budget Support

Provide technical input during project planning phases and commissioning of new assets.

Prepare and monitor the annual wellwork budget, ensuring alignment with business plans and cost targets.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, or Natural Gas Engineering.
Experience
-
Minimum 8 years of oil & gas wellwork experience, with at least 5 years in rigless well interventions (offshore/onshore).

Proven experience with HPHT and toxic gas wells in offshore environments.
Technical Expertise

In-depth knowledge of:

Wellheads, X-mas Trees, Surface/Subsurface Equipment

Cased hole services & production logging
-
Pressure control and barrier equipment
-
Well Integrity Management (e.g., SCSSV, SCP management)

Proficiency with software such as WellView, Saphir, Emraude.
Certifications

IWCF Level 4 certified (Supervisor level).
