Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- This individual serves is a technical leader in rotating parts commodity design domain and has expertise in analyses processes associated with the discipline
- Integrates within a commodity of rotating parts across sub-sections including global teams
- Shares and leverages best practices across components and teams.
- Fosters a commodity-based community spanning teams
- Provides surge capacity within the commodity and helps coordinate coverage within commodity.
- Leads strategic and tactical efforts that span components and serves as an RTPE focal for those efforts with stakeholders outside RTPE
- Regularly coordinates with key GE shops, Suppliers and CMEs within their commodity
- Serves as an MRB engineer as well as mentor for newer engineers in the commodity
- Coordinates closely with CTHs within the rotating parts pyramid
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information, developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a mechanical design or similar engineering role.
- Must be a US Citizen and must be able to obtain and hold a Top Secret Clearance.
Desired Characteristics
- Master's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- Rotating part hardware ownership experience and familiarity with RTPE engines
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a mechanical design or similar engineering role including minimum 2 years owning rotating parts
- Rotating parts MRB certification
- Experience leading projects including indirect reports.
- Demonstrated expertise in CAD design and analysis tools, especially Unigraphics/NX, ANSYS classic.
- Experience and familiarity with GD&T principles and reading drawings.
- Experience in manufacturing, especially high-precision, turbomachinery components.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence others and lead small teams.
- Strong oral, written, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems independently.
- Ability to independently organize, document, plan and execute simultaneous projects while aligning with business priorities.
