Job Title: Senior Corrosion & Coating Engineer
Location: Qatar / China / Korea / Oman (Relocation required based on project needs)
Contract Duration: September 2025 - September 2027 (possible extension)
Work Schedule: 5 days per week, residential
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Corrosion & Coating Engineer to join a major offshore oil and gas project team. You will provide specialist expertise to ensure corrosion management, material selection, and coating solutions are robust, optimised, and compliant with project and industry standards. The role requires close collaboration with engineering, procurement, construction, and quality teams throughout project execution phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engineering dossiers with fit-for-purpose corrosion, material selection, and coating definitions ensuring safe procurement, fabrication, transport, installation, and operation
- Review corrosion and coating discipline documentation timely and thoroughly; challenge designs to optimise and mitigate risks
- Provide specialist input on corrosion engineering, cathodic protection design and calculations, coating technologies, and corrosion-resistant materials
- Assist in qualification and approval of corrosion and coating procedures, tests, and inspections
- Coordinate closely with other disciplines to ensure constructability and operational readiness
- Support fabrication, transportation, and installation phases by liaising with QC and site teams
- Identify and assess potential scope changes and technical risks within corrosion discipline, providing recommendations to engineering leadership
- Contribute to project meetings, risk assessments (HAZID/HAZOP), technical audits, and vendor clarifications
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, including NOC standards, ISO, ASTM, NACE, SSPC, and company project specifications
- Prepare and deliver technical reports on corrosion engineering progress, risks, and issues
Project Context
The position supports greenfield and brownfield offshore oil and gas developments including new wellhead platforms, riser platforms, pipelines, and associated facilities. The role involves working at engineering offices during design phases and construction yards during fabrication, with possible relocations between Qatar, China, Korea, and Oman.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Materials or Corrosion Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 15 years' experience in corrosion engineering and material selection within offshore oil and gas projects
- Relevant corrosion engineering certifications such as NACE are advantageous
- Practical knowledge of wellhead platforms, topsides, piping, pressure vessels, and applicable codes and standards (EN, ISO, ASTM, NACE, SSPC)
- Experience with project specifications and general standards in offshore environments
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills
- Fluent in English, capable of working effectively in multicultural teams and complex project environments
