Overview:

An exciting opportunity has opened for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to contribute to a high-profile offshore project within a globally operating energy organisation. This role is ideal for experienced professionals who are passionate about marine systems and ready to take a lead in engineering packages for complex offshore assets. Based in Kuala Lumpur, you will play a key role in driving the specification, execution, and delivery of marine mechanical equipment packages for major offshore production systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the technical development of specifications and requisitions for marine mechanical equipment, including (but not limited to) generators, pumps, inert gas systems, and foam expansion packages.
• Ensure all designs and documentation comply with applicable international codes and classification rules (e.g. IMO, SOLAS, ASME, NFPA).
• Evaluate supplier bids from a technical standpoint, providing clear assessments for less complex and medium-risk packages.
• Oversee supplier document reviews for accuracy and compliance post-award, acting as the technical focal point throughout the package lifecycle.
• Coordinate closely with internal stakeholders to align engineering deliverables with project timelines and objectives.
• Provide technical support and oversight for supplier fabrication processes and attend site visits for inspection, construction, or commissioning activities as required.
• Independently resolve complex technical issues during design, fabrication, and post-delivery stages.
• Uphold engineering integrity, safety, and compliance across all work scopes and decisions.

Candidate Profile:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of mechanical engineering experience in the oil and gas sector.
• Prior involvement in offshore engineering projects, preferably FPSO or similar deep-water applications.
• Strong background in EPC project execution.
• Well-versed in international standards and classification requirements, including ASME, NFPA, IMO, SOLAS, and related marine engineering codes.
• Proven ability to work independently while managing multiple stakeholders and technical disciplines.
