Senior Contract Engineer

About the Role

We're supporting an industry-leading organisation in the energy sector to find a skilled Senior Contract Engineer. You'll work in a fast-paced environment where your expertise in contracts and procurement will play a key role in supporting major operations. This position offers the opportunity to influence high-value contract strategies across technically complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Strategy & Development

• Develop and manage contractual documents in compliance with internal procedures and industry best practices
• Work closely with technical teams to define scopes, responsibilities, and contract execution strategies
• Contribute to the commercial negotiation and recommendation to award (RTA) processes
• Prepare and issue tenders, requests for quotation, and manage all pre-qualification steps
• Review and verify commercial and contractual terms and conditions

Contract Execution & Oversight

• Manage a portfolio of contracts across procurement, services, and technical scopes
• Coordinate with insurance, legal, and finance teams on contract matters and claim resolution
• Maintain up-to-date supplier databases and market intelligence
• Monitor performance KPIs, contractual compliance, and manage contract renewals or amendments
• Participate in contract committee reviews and approvals

Stakeholder Engagement & Team Coordination

• Liaise with multiple internal teams (Operations, HSE, Legal, Finance) to ensure alignment
• Mentor junior contract engineers and provide guidance on contract execution
• Ensure integration of HSEQ clauses and company standards in all documents
• Collaborate with shared service teams and apply lessons learned from similar projects

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Law, Engineering, or a related discipline
• Minimum 10-12 years' post-graduate experience in the Oil & Gas sector, specifically in contracts and procurement
• Previous experience in a senior contract engineer role is highly desirable
• Strong commercial acumen and knowledge of service contracts
• Experience with contract management tools such as SAP, GEP, or similar platforms
• Proficient in analysing market trends and supplier performance
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proactive and detail-oriented mindset
