EngineeringThe Instrument Technician reports to Supervisor. Calibrate, troubleshoot and maintain all electronic, electromechanical and mechanical equipment and instruments. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Install, calibrate and maintain various types of flow, pressure, temperature transmitters and switches combustible gas detectors (CGI), low temperature detectors and ultra-violet infra-red (UVIR) flame detection equipment associated with the Fire and Hazards Systems, CO2 carbon monoxide reference gas analyzers and gas chromatograph equipment associated with test gas samples. Perform required DOT/TPUC calibrations on liquefaction and vaporization systems within required time frame. Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, install motor control circuits, motor starters and associated interlocks. Install and maintain wiring, recording devices, computers and other instrumentation or automatic equipment. Maintain records on repair and maintenance of equipment. Operate Division vehicle, computer software applications and hardware. Perform other duties as directed.
EDUCATION: Associate degree in Electronics Technology or related degree
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Must be able to distinguish colors. Must successfully complete NIMS Training within one year of entering job. Must have knowledge/skills in Instrumentation, PLC Logic, Logic Controllers local area network communications and associated software. Must successfully complete Placement/Performance exercises. Must pass an annual physical examination as required by Department of Transportation. Must have successfully completed Physical Abilities Test. Must have a valid drivers license from state of residence. Physical Demands: Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10 pounds or more of force on a regular basis.
