Job Purpose
The Instrument & Control Engineer (ICSS Specialist) is responsible for the design, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of the Integrated Control and Safety System (ICSS) on the project. This role ensures the reliable operation, integration, and troubleshooting of control systems critical to the safe and efficient operation of the oil & gas facilities, supporting brownfield modifications and upgrades.

Job Purpose
The Instrument & Control Engineer (ICSS Specialist) is responsible for the design, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of the Integrated Control and Safety System (ICSS) on the project. This role ensures the reliable operation, integration, and troubleshooting of control systems critical to the safe and efficient operation of the oil & gas facilities, supporting brownfield modifications and upgrades.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support and expertise for the design, installation, calibration, and commissioning of ICSS systems.
- Develop and review instrumentation and control system specifications, datasheets, and drawings.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of ICSS equipment, ensuring compliance with project and safety standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues in coordination with construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
- Perform regular inspections and condition monitoring of control systems and instrumentation.
- Liaise with equipment vendors, ensure quality and timely delivery of control system components.
- Support FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests) and SAT (Site Acceptance Tests) for control systems.
- Document testing and commissioning activities, ensuring all procedures and safety protocols are followed.
- Participate in risk assessments and system hazard analysis related to control and safety systems.
- Provide technical guidance and training to site personnel on ICSS operation and maintenance.
- Ensure all activities comply with relevant safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Technical Skills:
- Extensive experience with control and safety systems in oil & gas brownfield projects (preferably with ICSS and cybersecurity).
- Knowledge of control system software (e.g., Honeywell, Siemens, ABB, etc.) and protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus, etc.).
- Familiarity with process instrumentation, control valves, and field devices.
- Experience with system integration, engineering drawings, and control loop tuning.
- Ability to troubleshoot control system issues effectively.
- Familiarity with HAZOP, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and SIL calculations.
- Experience in FAT and SAT procedures.

Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8+ years of on-site experience in the oil & gas industry, particularly on brownfield control system projects.
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation, Control Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience with ICSS systems, ideally in the Middle East or similar regions.
- Hands-on experience with control system design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
