Position: Sr. Power Engineer (Primetals Technologies USA LLC; Alpharetta, GA)

Duties: Execute Power System Solutions, as well as enhancements, modifications, and upgrades to existing industrial power systems, and integrate the appropriate hardware and software. Develop material specifications and schematics for complex power systems, Substations, SCADA system and perform power system analysis. Support marketing and proposals with cost estimates, technical specification generation, technical vendor evaluations, and BOMs and take-offs for greenfield, brownfield and revamp proposals. Execute small to medium size projects at senior project engineer or lead engineer capacity. Utilize NESC, NEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards to specify and evaluate the power system equipment and integrate the various equipment to build customized power system solutions for our customers. Perform ground grid design and analysis. Perform power system steady state analysis such as load flow, short circuit, protective relay coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis. Advanced analysis such as transient motor starting and power factor correction filter sizing studies. Support in advanced EMTP power system analysis for complex systems such as Arc Furnace Breaker, SVC sizing, filter switching, insulation coordination, and RC element sizing. Design protection and control schematics for outdoor substations from 34.5kV to 345kV for industrial customers. Develop system engineering, to/from lists, panel schematics and integration schematics to bring equipment together based on the ANSI, IEEE and Primetals department standards. Design and review MV and LV power distribution and emergency power equipment drawings. Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing. Protection relays and meters configuration and programming. Execute IEC61850 based SCADA and power monitoring systems for small to medium scale industrial plants and support under guidance for large scale systems. Interact with customer with technical questions and review applicable design documents. Engineer in Training (EIT) license and working towards Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Minimum education required:Master's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Minimum experience required:2 years of experience in power system studies and analysis, or related experience.

Skills required:Experience performing power system analysis using SKM PTW software. Experience generating protection settings. Experience in electrical standards IEEE, ANSI, NFPA, and NEC. Understand NERC guidelines on load regulations and experience with using software such as ASPEN and PowerWorld Simulator. Experience performing Ground Grid Analysis. Experience performing arc flash analysis and generating arc flash hazard labels. Experience performing motor starting transient study. Experience with Harmonics and filter system design for industrial power systems. Familiarity with electrical transient software PSCAD, Matlab-Simulink, EMTP. Protection relay configuration experience with SEL Quickset, GE Multin Enervista. Experience with dynamic analysis including Transient motor starting and stability studies. Employer will accept any amount of professional experience, graduate experience or academic coursework with the required skills.
