Completions Engineer - Egypt

Purpose of role
The Completions Engineer (CE) provides the engineering expertise required to design, plan, and deliver well completions programs in line with local industry regulations and bp practices. This role works closely with multidisciplinary teams - including Wells Engineering, Wells Operations, Reservoir Development, Projects, and Operations - to ensure designs meet business objectives while embedding safety, reliability, and operational efficiency. The CE also mentors junior engineers, supports continuous improvement, and drives the implementation of lessons learned to deliver long-term value across the region.

The CE also mentors junior engineers, supports continuous improvement, and drives the implementation of lessons learned to deliver long-term value across the region.
In this role, you will:
- Deliver safe, compliant, reliable, competitive, and productive wells through multi-functional collaboration in the design and execution of new well completions.
- Ensure well control and process safety risks are identified and managed in design and operations.
- Provide technical guidance during execution when operational challenges arise.
- Share and implement lessons learned, best practices, standardization opportunities, and technology trials to improve efficiency and performance.
- Mentor and coach less experienced engineers.
- Lead or contribute to risk assessments, management of change (MoC) processes, and deviations from bp practices for completions operations.
- Prepare accurate completion time and cost estimates to support project financials and well AFE approvals.
- Develop completion design and operational programs in line with the Completion Technical File Notes and Basis of Design.
- Support the integration of new completion procedures, practices, and technologies, sharing findings through Communities of Practice.
- Manage CE project plans, coordinating with offshore teams, operations, projects, and finance.
- Specify functional and technical requirements for tubulars, equipment, and sandface completion practices to ensure reliability and performance.
- Review benchmarking data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Recommend and author completions and subsea procedures.
- Ensure smooth project closure and handover to Operations, including full documentation.
- Plan and execute in SIMOPs environments involving production facilities and rig operations.
What you will need to be successful:
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum.
- Minimum 8 years' industry experience, with a strong focus on Completions and/or Interventions Engineering and Operations.
- Experience in subsea completions (at least part of your career).
- Technical expertise across Completions Design, Interventions, Workover Engineering & Operations, Subsea Operations, Sand Control, Fracturing, Well Performance, Data Acquisition, Rig & Equipment, Perforating, Formation Damage, Wireline, Coil Tubing, and Fishing.
- Valid Well Control Certification.
- Demonstrated alignment with bp's Who We Are beliefs.
It would be beneficial to also have:
- Offshore, deepwater operations, and subsea well engineering experience.
- Extensive knowledge of sand control completions.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across Wells, Projects, Operations, and Reservoir Development teams.
- Ability to challenge conventional thinking and apply innovative solutions to complex problems.
- Petroleum engineering and production operations experience.
- Familiarity with bp's Engineering Practices and willingness to take principled positions when needed.
- Experience collaborating with Finance and PSCM teams, including resolving supplier performance issues
