Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to develop engineering design packages and deliver innovative solutions that ensure the continuous and efficient operation of a major petrochemical facility. This is a technically challenging role involving problem-solving, plant modifications, and close collaboration with multiple departments to enhance performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver mechanical engineering design packages to meet production, maintenance, and HSE requirements.

Provide design input for plant modifications and improvements.

Identify and justify equipment/process improvements and prepare work scopes and bid invitations.

Monitor installation and commissioning of plant modifications, ensuring technical compliance.

Provide field coordination and technical consultation during project execution.

Support operations and maintenance teams with technical expertise on plant equipment.

Contribute to planning and specialised engineering input for plant shutdowns.

Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external contractors on project activities.
Operating Environment:

Based in Qatar; willingness to relocate (family relocation supported).

Work involves both office and site/plant environments, including outdoor conditions.

Requirements:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.Sc.).

At least 8 years of experience in design, construction, commissioning, and maintenance of large-scale petrochemical facilities, including a minimum of 5 years on site.

Strong knowledge of piping design, construction, and commissioning.

Membership of a relevant professional engineering institution.

Solid understanding of safety practices in hydrocarbon processing environments.

Familiarity with U.S. and British engineering codes and standards.

Proven experience preparing work scopes, evaluating tenders, and delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Strong technical and organisational skills, with experience contributing to major petrochemical complex operations.

Experience in facilities handling ethylene, polyethylene, or sulphur removal is advantageous.
