Our Operator client is currently recruiting for the position of P&A Engineer, based onshore in Aberdeen.  This a long term contract PAYE position.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare well P&A programmes under the direction of the Well Engineering Team Lead, support P&A Operations under the direction of the Well Operations Team Lead, and plan P&A operations and regulatory submissions in compliance with UK statutory requirements and the client’s policies, standards and procedures under the direction of the P&A Team Lead.
  • Conduct well P&A planning in accordance with the Well Delivery Process (WDP) and ensure compliance with well examination scheme.
  • Ensure detailed risk assessment (HAZOP/HAZID) conducted prior to operational execution in accordance with the company’s risk management process.
  • Prepare scopes of work and appropriate technical specifications for procurement of equipment and services.
  • Technical lead for assigned contracts. Responsible for managing the agreed relationship with service providers and in setting the KPIs with the Contract Owner and C&P Specialist
  • Provide input as required into preparation of permits and applications to UK regulatory authorities.
  • Prepare scoping, budgetary and AFE level well cost estimates (deterministic and/or probabilistic)
  • Timely identification of long lead material and equipment to facilitate procurement
  • Monitor and measure performance against expectations. Analyse variances and capture lessons learned.
  • Coordinate and liaise with other company disciplines on well related issues.
  • Coordinate service company support to the company.
  • Provide technical and operational support to the well operations team during execution, as required.
  • Risk assess and implement Management of Change (MoC) process for revisions to approved programmes/ scopes of work in accordance with the company’s policies, standards and procedures.
  • Review operational written instructions (after development by offshore rig management and service specialists) prior to offshore approval
  • Report and investigate non-productive and lost time and issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) as appropriate during operations (determine root cause, define actions to prevent recurrence).
  • Implementation of lessons learned system and championing of all performance improvement initiatives applicable to drilling operations.
  • Oversee JV operations as delegated by Well Services, Integrity And P&A Manager.
  • Emergency Response delegate.
 
Accountabilities:
  • Excellence in Health, Safety and Environmental performance.
  • Application of functional specifications to deliver optimum well designs
  • Initiation of shallow hazards assessment and borehole surveys.
  • Optimise performance where possible by appropriate application of new technology.
  • Scheduling of material and personnel required to meet programme objectives.
  • Accurate and timely reporting of all programme activities.
  • Maintenance of end of well records, lessons learned and complete well files.
  • Encourage good, open communications with contractors, promoting a culture of involvement and participation
Interfaces with (Internal):
  • Facilitate effective interfaces between all services provided to drilling operations.
  • Liaises with: Onshore/ Offshore Wells team, Subsurface Team, HES Representatives, Contracts & Procurement (inc. Logistics), Finance, Onshore Service Coordinators
  • Contribute to the optimisation of the asset's performance.
Interfaces with (External):
  • Interface, direct and manage wells related external contractors and services companies.
  • Participate in cross company initiatives to identify new technologies and enable the company to benefit from drilling experiences elsewhere.
 
Specific Requirements:
  • Individual contributor. Enthusiastic self-development as a Drilling Engineer.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Drilling Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or similar (preferred) or vocational training with extensive experience in well engineering and site supervision, with proven track record.
  • Previous relevant experience in well engineering and site supervision.
  • IWCF Well Control Certification
  • Able to work and communicate effectively with colleagues, partners and all other stakeholders. Respecting the knowledge and experience of others, sharing information and building effective relationships.
  • Ability to encourage & celebrate success, performance and diversity. Being approachable, assisting & developing others according to their needs.
