Indigo is recruiting an enthusiastic 2nd Line Subsea Cable NOC engineer to join their global network monitoring team in the Denver office. The role involves managing remote hands maintenance, proactive and reactive troubleshooting from alarms, performance & trend analysis.
The Indigo NOC is manned 24x7x365, the current shift pattern is 4 x 10 hour shifts.
The successful candidate must have the right to work in the USA and a desire to work in a cutting-edge network monitoring team where no two days will be the same. You will work to continually improve and optimise processes and provide input to support innovation to provide a truly best in class service to some of the highest profile organizations in the world.
Reporting to the NOC Manager and supported by your colleagues and the Principal Engineering Team, you will .....
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct proactive data analysis using network monitoring tools and trend evaluation to identify and mitigate potential faults.
• Lead the response to network alarms and notifications, prioritizing tasks based on impact and severity.
• Diagnose and resolve issues in terrestrial and subsea DWDM transmission systems using performance monitoring data and test equipment; escalate when necessary.
• Collaborate with Principal Engineers, field service teams, vendors, and third parties to ensure timely issue resolution.
• Validate post-repair system performance to confirm successful resolution.
• Manage repair coordination, spare parts inventory, and RMA replacements.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date trouble tickets, ensuring clarity and completeness.
• Document case resolutions, RCA and technical actions to support knowledge sharing within the team.
• Develop Method of Procedure (MoP) documentation for module replacement as required.
• Consistently exceed customer SLA expectations through effective issue management and service delivery.
Competency: Skills/Knowledge/Qualifications
• Proven experience in Operations, Administration & Maintenance (OA&M) of complex terrestrial and submarine cable systems.
• Solid background in OA&M of terrestrial cable systems and networks, using and evaluating results from built in monitoring tools and testing equipment.
• Understanding of subsea repeaters, branching units, WSS ROADMs & equalisers and troubleshooting techniques.
• Extensive optical network troubleshooting experience is essential.
• Understanding of DCN networking.
• Familiarity with ticketing systems (preferably SalesForce) and workflow processes.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC) environment managing subsea & terrestrial optical transmission networks.
• Technical understanding of DCN networks, routers, switches, firewalls, and transmission equipment.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, committed to delivering high-quality customer service.
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and demanding customers.
• Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, ITILv4 would be desirable.
• Multilingual capabilities, especially in Spanish, French or an Asian language would be an advantage.

• Extensive experience in optical transmission and Network Management Systems (NMS) from multiple vendors, including Ciena, ASN, SubCom, NEC, Extera, and Infinera
• Extensive experience in OA&M of both subsea and terrestrial network infrastructures.
• Extensive experience of ticketing systems, with Salesforce experience considered an advantage.
• Strong troubleshooting skillset
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
