Position Summary:
The Construction Closeout Technician plays a key role in the final stages of commercial solar project delivery. This position focuses heavily on the QA/QC process, ensuring all systems are built to design, meet quality standards, and are fully operational prior to turnover. The Technician will perform detailed inspections, verify documentation, and support project closeout packages. In addition, this role requires technical troubleshooting skills to resolve outstanding electrical or mechanical issues that arise during commissioning and closeout. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently in the field, and effective communication with project managers, subcontractors, and the closeout team.
Travel Requirements:
This is a field-based role with travel required to solar project sites throughout Northern and Southern California. A company vehicle will be provided for all job-related travel. Technicians are expected to report to our Rocklin, CA headquarters approximately once per month for team meetings, training, or equipment pick-up. MUST have valid license and clean MVR.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform QA/QC inspections on solar installations, verifying compliance with design drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
- Document all punch list and deficiency items; follow up to ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Support the closeout process by compiling inspection reports, as-built verification, and required turnover documentation.
- Conduct functional testing and performance verification of PV systems, inverters, monitoring, and electrical components.
- Assist with troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues that arise during final testing and commissioning.
- Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and vendors to resolve outstanding items efficiently.
- Ensure system readiness for utility inspections, commissioning, and final handoff.
- Verify safety protocols and workmanship meet company and regulatory standards.
- Provide clear, timely communication and reporting to the closeout and O&M teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of solar field experience, with a focus on QA/QC, commissioning, or project closeout.
- Experience in construction or electrical trades, with strong troubleshooting abilities.
- Experience with QA/QC inspection processes and documentation.
- Prior use of CMMS or closeout documentation platforms.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, twist, and climb ladders/stairs throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
- Tolerance for working in extreme temperatures, sun exposure, and adverse weather conditions.
- Comfortable working at heights and on rooftops.
- Must wear PPE for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Must be able to differentiate between color-coded wiring and have good hand-eye coordination.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
- Knowledge of commissioning procedures and testing protocols.
- Strong attention to safety with experience in Lockout/Tagout and hazard analysis.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple site assignments.
- Familiarity with national and local electrical codes.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and monitoring platforms.
- Strong understanding of electrical principles, schematics, and codes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to use digital inspection/reporting tools.
- Excellent organization, documentation, and communication skills.
