PDS Tech Commercial is hiring Gas Meter Exchange Technicians to support the Gas Meter Project in the greater Charlotte, NC area. This is a field-based role ideal for individuals with mechanical aptitude, strong attention to safety, and a commitment to quality service. Training, equipment, and certifications are provided to ensure your success.

About the Role

You'll perform gas meter installations and replacements in residential and commercial settings. You'll work outdoors, interact with utility customers, and ensure accurate data collection and safe operation of gas appliances and systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and replace gas meters and regulators in the field.
  
• Perform final meter tests and verify proper functionality.
  
• Identify and report hazardous or abnormal operating conditions.
  
• Detect and respond to gas leaks and safely manage gas supply shutoffs and relights.
  
• Use handheld devices to collect and document installation data.
  
• Meet daily productivity goals and maintain high standards of safety and quality.
  
• Communicate professionally with customers and represent company standards.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED.
  
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  
• Ability to pass a pre-employment MVR check, background check, and DOT PHMSA-compliant drug screen.
  
• Physical ability to work outdoors for up to 10 hours/day in all weather conditions.
  
• Ability to use hand tools and lift up to 30 lbs.
  
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
  
• Must pass OQ training, field evaluation, and obtain certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in natural gas field service operations.
  
• Prior experience installing or repairing gas meters.
  
• Familiarity with mobile devices, software tools, and data entry.

Pay Details: $22.00 per hour
