EngineeringPerform post assembly inspection and mechanical and electrical testing to new or repaired generators (completed units) and test parts/prototypes and ensure conformance to specifications and quality standards. Tests performed includes High Voltage electrical tests, vibration tests and functional tests.
RESPONSIBILITIES, FUNCTIONS AND TASKS
-May cross-train and be required to work in areas Q1 (Test/Tollgate), Q2 (Incoming Inspection), and Q3 (Faro), if needed. Will receive the process knowledge point value for each area trained in, after successfully passing an audit for that area. If an employee receives a process knowledge point for any area, they are expected to perform work in that area.
-Train new employees in areas in which they already have a Process Knowledge Point in.
-Test and inspect the utility scale generators (low and high Voltage) following the standard operating procedures to ensure compliance to the specifications and quality standards. The testing performed includes high Voltage electrical tests, vibration tests and functional tests.
-Conduct other electrical tests as instructed to determine where errors may be.
-Coordinate with the production team and schedule the testing activities to ensure delivery goals are met.
-Work with Test Engineer to set up generators for heat run testing.
-Prepare and present reports on serial production testing, heat run testing and continuous R&D testing.
-Use blueprints, work instructions, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), schematics and electrical testing tools and equipment to check and test assemblies.
-Ensure each check point and traceability of the component is collected and tracked in the DCS computer system, if applicable. Must fill out necessary paperwork, such as auto-controls, etc.
-Will have to track time associated to each job for costing purposes. Must clock all time in DCS including productive, non-productive, rework, training, lunch and breaks.
-Ensure each job is tracked appropriately using the job costing system so time can be billed correctly.
-Use basic measuring, hand and power tools as necessary to open/close connection boxes, secure the generator to the base plate and connect/disconnect power cables.
-May use overhead crane and forklift. Must be willing to get certified, if needed.
-Maintain communications with the quality department to ensure work passes testing and is ready for timely shipment. Use the non-conformity report to track any issues. Be involved in improvement group if it is requested in order to solve an issue.
-Report any possible defects in the materials or product to management.
-Assist in determining reasons for defects and the effect of deviations on product requirements.
-Assist in establishing inspection and testing procedures.
-Responsible for the cleanliness, organization and maintenance of their area of work
-Maintain safe work practices and adhere to environmental, safety and health standards.
-Follow the plan and schedule defined by the supervisor and production department
-Follow instructions to keep and follow 6S methodology
-Responsible for cleanliness and organization of their work area.
-Learn tasks associated with different generator models, if needed.
-Ensure tasks are performed according to organizational requirements for quality management and environmental, health and safety standards, policies and procedures.
-Comply with all company policies, procedures and rules.
-Complete other duties and work in other areas as assigned by the Company, whether or not trained in the area. This includes housekeeping tasks.
-Be at your workstation on time at the beginning of shift, and when the shift/break bell rings at the start and end of breaks.
-Leave at end of day when approved by Lead or Supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
-At least one year experience as a test technician in a manufacturing environment. Experience in electrical, power converters, and/or inverters preferred
-Good verbal and written comprehension, the ability to thrive in a team environment, and work with necessary supervision is required
-Must have knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles and inspection and testing techniques.
-Troubleshooting skills preferred
-Must have excellent attention to detail and have the ability to follow detailed instructions, blueprints, and interpret and use measuring instruments
-General knowledge of mechanical tools and good manual dexterity skills required.
-Must be able to use precision measuring instruments, gauging devices, test sets, and power tools.
-Knowledge of Lean principles and tools preferred.
-Strong attention to detail and the ability to respond to changing priorities required.
-Must be reliable and have good attendance. Must adhere to company's Time & Attendance policy.
-The ability to work on different projects as necessary is required.
-Use of overhead canes and forklift preferred. Must be willing to get trained and certified in crane and forklift operation, if needed.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
-Associates degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or other relevant degree required. 4+ years relevant experience, in lieu of a degree.
