JOB DESCRIPTION

You will play a pivotal role in minimizing downtime, increasing productivity, and upholding the safety of our Plymouth team. Training can be provided for the ideal candidate; you will be offered opportunities to progress and develop your career within the NOV team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop the existing PPM System, install, and adhere to preventive maintenance schedules and procedures to maximise equipment reliability and minimise unplanned downtime.
  • Perform repairs and troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and malfunctions promptly.
  • Collaborate with the production team to plan maintenance activities, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Coordinate with external service providers and contractors for specialised repairs or maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, including costs, repair logs, and equipment history records.
  • Conduct regular inspections on the facility, machinery and fabrication tools to identify potential issues and address them proactively.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards during maintenance activities, including lockout/tagout procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and new technologies in maintenance to enhance efficiency and optimise equipment performance.
  • Train and mentor junior maintenance staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in plant maintenance.


Skills/Experience

  • The proven ability to work safely and productively in the absence of close supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience as a Maintenance Engineer or a similar role in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance principles and practices.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in using various tools and equipment for troubleshooting and repair.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve complex equipment issues.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with senior team members and external service providers.
  • Time management and organisational skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations (18th edition) and protocols.


Qualifications

  • Certification in maintenance-related areas such as CMRP (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
  • Familiarity with regulatory guidelines and standards related to plant maintenance, such as ISO 9001.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices.
