OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Under supervision a Graduate Engineer assists more senior engineers to produce detailed engineering relevant to his/her area of specialism. The work scope may include supporting studies and tenders as well as live projects. The Graduate Engineer will normally participate in the Graduate Engineer Development Scheme (GEDS) involving off-the-job training, on-the-job development, mentoring and self-development.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Onshore:
  • Under direct supervision, assist in development of project-specific procedures and drawings for the implementation of work to be carried out by onshore & offshore personnel in accordance with the relevant codes & standards, client's specifications, and legal / statutory requirements. This may include some liaison directly with clients and subcontractors.
  • Be involved as required in Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA) detailed in the procedures.
  • Be aware of interfaces within a project structure, including other disciplines, drawing office, document control, project management, clients, and subcontractors/vendors.
  • Be involved in design of installation aids and other equipment required for use offshore or for use onshore in preparation for offshore activities.
  • Ensure Inspection & Test Plan (ITP) witness and hold points are managed in accordance with the overall project Quality Plan and / or Subsea7 processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of any engineering analysis of tasks relating to installation, to ensure the structural/operational integrity of the equipment during installation.

Offshore:
  • Assist in the mobilization / demobilization of the vessels to ensure that all equipment and materials are handled in the correct manner, and everyone involved is aware of all safety and technical aspects of the mob/demob.
  • Provide all necessary technical briefings to offshore/site personnel ensuring that the overall working and safety philosophy of the project is fully understood by offshore/site personnel, including all the hold and witness points in the procedures and task plans.
  • Provide technical assistance to offshore/site personnel for permit-to-work (PTW) system to be implemented in accordance with approved procedure.
  • Identify any deviations from procedures and manage the change through Risk Assessment and Management of Change Procedure PR-GL-HSE-029 via senior engineers. Document any impact of change on the schedule, as-builts or anything else relating to vessel, with the approval of Offshore Manager / Client.
  • Assist with the management of all project specific subcontractors / vendors confirming all technical &operational aspects of the contract are observed.

Important note:

Project Engineering Manager may assign additional project-specific roles and responsibilities, in agreement
with Function Head, given all statutory and legislative regulations are fulfilled.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Engineering degree holder (Marine, Civil or Mechanical) or equivalent.
  • May have some directly related work experience.
