Senior Asset Integrity (Mining)
We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Asset Integrity Specialist to enhance the reliability and minimize downtime of process piping, tanks, and pressure vessels at a major mining and processing plant. The successful candidate will apply industry best practices, extensive knowledge of relevant standards, and practical site-based experience to manage inspection campaigns, specify repairs, and ensure long-term equipment integrity.
 
Position Overview
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Duration: 3 – 6 months with the possibility of becoming permanent
 Location: Papua New Guinea 
 
Key Responsibilities

Manage Site Pipe Inspection Campaign:
   - Oversee inspections by two dedicated API570 pipe inspectors. 
   - Coordinate UTT (Ultrasonic Thickness Testing) by the site condition monitoring crew. 
 
Specify Piping Repairs:
  • Detail temporary and permanent repairs based on inspection results. 
  • Scope work and ensure quality assurance for completed repairs. 
 Maintain Piping Integrity in Maintenance System (SAP):
  • Set up future inspection and UTT condition monitoring requirements. 
  • Develop maintenance plans for piping and valve replacements to ensure reliability and safety. 
 Maintain Registers:
  • Update the pipe defects register and the pipe temporary repair register. 
 Review Statutory Inspection Reports:
  • Analyze reports for pressure vessels, PSVs, and tanks, and specify necessary repairs. 
 Generate Fitness for Service Assessments:
  • Conduct assessments for non-compliant equipment as per relevant standards (AS3788 & API579). 
 Conduct Risk Assessments:
  • Generate risk assessments for equipment with known integrity issues. 
 Root Cause Analysis and Failure Investigation:
  • Perform investigations on systems and equipment as needed. 
 Mentorship and Development:
  • Provide coaching and guidance to local asset integrity specialists. 
 Technical Authority:
  • Act as the technical authority for matters related to pipe, tank, and pressure vessel integrity. 
 
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proficiency in key industry codes and standards: 
  • AS3788, API570, ASME B31.3, AS4041, API 510, API 653, AS1210, ASME VIII, API 580/581, API 579, API RP 571, AS4037 
  • Strong SAP Maintenance Module skills 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel 
 
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant engineering discipline. 
  • Extensive experience in asset integrity, piping inspections, pressure vessels, and tanks in heavy industry, mining, or related sectors. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead inspection campaigns and manage repair specifications. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
