Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute significantly to successful project results in technology, software, product, and/or solution development, as well as associated Intellectual Property (IP). Each day, you will act as the first point of contact in Research and Development for specific product-related issues and maintenance. You will also showcase your expertise by identifying, proposing, and implementing innovative solutions. The work model for the role is: #LI-Onsite This role is contributing to the Electrification business Smart Buildings division in Hyderabad, India. You will be mainly accountable for: • Maintaining recognized expertise in a specific area by integrating the latest developments in technologies, tools, and methodologies into your work. • Finding new ways of solving problems by following your ideas, creating hypotheses, and defining ways to validate them. • Documenting work results (like findings, designs, or software), allowing others to maintain and improve them. • Understanding and initiating IP generation in your area of specialization and participating in the project IP strategy development. • Highly motivated self-driven engineers to work independently on R&D projects related to ELSB NEMA product line. • Must have good understanding of product development lifecycle and have hands-on expertise on product development activities including design, testing, analysis, root cause, qualification, and certification. • Must have hands-on experience of simulation tools like Ansys to cut short the product development cycle and optimization of products. Understanding of structural, thermal, electromagnetic, computational fluid dynamics will be an added advantage along with exposure to current interruption process.

Qualifications for the role

• B. Tech/M. S/ M. Tech or equivalent in Electrical / Mechanical engineering with 6+ years of hands-on experience in Electrical product design/development and Analysis.
• Proficient in Ansys and CAD Tools like Creo, Pro/ENGINEER etc and Experience with electrical panelboards and circuit breakers. Good understanding of UL standards for circuit breakers and panelboards
• Expertise in high volume manufacturing processes, including stamping, molding, welding, assembly, and automation.
• Experience with product documentation (Windchill experience preferred) and Lead product requirements definition, including driving new products through the gate and design review process. Investigate current and future technologies for application to products across the business unit.
• Contribute to team's advanced development/ innovation efforts to enhance product offerings and Demonstrates sound understanding of R&D processes and tools. Demonstrate ownership on compliance with applicable standards.
• Must have good understanding of competitor product & IP landscaping and product application. Work with team members on patentable inventions to add to the ABB IP portfolio.
• Interface with other engineering departments, test laboratories, manufacturing, quality, sourcing and suppliers as required.
• Must have solid documentation/technical report writing skills and Good organizational, interpersonal, communication & project management skills required.
