Position Description

Purpose
This role assists and supports Field Operations and/or Project Management functions in achieving their respective goals and objectives. This role contributes to several facets of the solar division including project management, field operations, estimating, and design. The field engineer acts as a support role in various administrative functions in the office and in the field.
Focus & Scope
Essential duties and responsibilities, i.e. those which are basic, necessary, and an integral part of the job, are indicated below:
  1. Assists in achieving a zero-injury culture through the support of Teichert's Injury Prevention and Safety program and active participation in safety meetings and training sessions. Proactively identifies, and communicates, safety improvements and hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions to maintain a safe, healthy work environment and meet corporate safety standards.
  2. Completes assignments and tasks on time, accurately, and meets customer expectations.
  3. Assists and supports Project Managers, Project Engineers, Project Executives, and Superintendents.
  4. May assist in monitoring work performance and productivity of craft workforce.
  5. Provides support, and assists, in coordinating resources for assigned projects. Specifically, may: check labor, equipment, and materials for accuracy pertaining to the job; coordinate subcontractors and suppliers; order and schedule material for assigned jobs; and/or build GPS models on the computer for the field.
  6. Reviews proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope. Determines required contents of estimates and evaluates historical data in order to project unit and man hour figures.
  7. Substantial travel to prepare and support job sites in a wide geographic area
  8. Builds and maintains positive working relationships with internal and external customers. Communicates company and project policies, procedures, and standards. Maintains a favorable impression of the company with external customers through professional and courteous interactions.
  9. Completes internal administrative organization responsibilities and documentation, including project logs, files, records, reports and estimates. May include diaries, submittals, RFI's, contracts, permits, price quotes, purchase orders, work orders, invoices, traffic control plan design, and quantity take-off materials. Assists in developing written Construction/ Pipeline Program guidelines.
  10. Additional responsibilities including but not limited to mark and call in USA tickets, perform pre-job walks with Construction Managers to determine property lines and scope of work, take pre and post job photos, place door hangers/property owner coordination, restoration sketches, and pull permits for meter relocation. Support field crews for redline/as-built preparation, materials acquisition/coordinate with PG&E field engineer, determination of out-of-scope items, collect GPS coordinates and compile field weld logs. Deliver materials and supplies to projects and may run miscellaneous errands.
  11. Takes ownership of managing career, professional growth, and contribution to Teichert Pipelines. Works closely with engineering services, field operations, and/or estimating on work performance and productivity. Gains exposure, and contributes to, multiple areas of the company. Communicates personal and professional goals and objectives, with the ultimate result of progressing from a Field Engineer into an Engineering Services, Field Operations, or Estimating role.

Role Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
  • High School diploma or GED
Experience & Industry Expertise:
  • On-the-job training
  • Six months prior experience in the construction field, solar field, utility field, or construction office preferred
Specific Job Requirements:
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background investigation
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Current on all company required safety training

Physical Demands & Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Physical: Sitting for long periods of time working at the computer or driving to job sites. Job site visits require walking on uneven ground, climbing, bending, stooping, crawling in confined or enclosed spaces. Some lifting of materials and equipment up to 50 lbs. Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. May work long hours during peak seasons.
  • Work Environment: Typical office environment with adequate temperatures and lighting, low levels of noise. Exposed to the conditions of job sites which can include loud noise, dust, fumes, and extreme weather conditions prevalent at the time. May work various shifts or hours, including early mornings, dusk or evenings.
BASE SALARY RANGE:
$70,833.00 - $99,167.00
The range displayed reflects the range the company reasonably expects to pay for the position. The actual base salary is subject to variation due to the role, level, geographic location, relevant education, training, or experience, among other factors.
