Position Summary

The Reservoir Engineer 3, Senior is an integral member of the Reservoir Engineering function who works closely with a cross-functional team to plan and implement development and depletion programs that add value to the company. Their primary responsibilities include reservoir evaluation and modeling, reservoir surveillance, reserve and resource evaluations, full-life depletion plans, and economic analyses for corporate planning and budgeting. Work is assigned in terms of objectives, relative priorities, and critical areas that affect the work of other units. Decision and problem-solving require the modification of established guidelines and the initiation of new approaches. This position reports to Reservoir Engineering Manager and will also exhibit the organization's core values of Stronger Together, Own it, Breed Excellence, Do the Right Thing, and Responsible.

Key Accountabilities

• Applies technical knowledge in planning, conducting, and coordinating moderate to difficult assignments.

• Develops solutions to routine but complex problems. Identify risk and mitigating activities.

• Works with team members to create improvement initiatives that result in value generation, efficiencies, and/or reduction of risk.

• Performs and occasionally leads the team in pattern analysis, depletion, steam chest management, and overall reservoir surveillance initiatives.

• Manages reserves and resources outlooks for areas of responsibility inclusive of inventory management and delivery of annual reserves presentation to third-party auditors.

• Creates and optimizes asset development plans for execution and future budgeting purposes.

• Communicates new technical information and discoveries effectively.

• Works independently and occasionally mentors, guides, or directs less experienced engineers and team members.

• Complies with all the Company's Safety and Environmental policies, practices, and programs. Takes corrective action within training limitations. Escalates as necessary.

• Participates in and adheres to all training programs designed to enhance HSE knowledge, safety standards and improve job performance.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Certificates, Licenses

• Bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering or related field

• Advanced Degree in Petroleum Engineering or related field preferred.

• Certifications and/or qualifications within the area of specialty that would enhance working knowledge and capabilities are a plus.

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience in oil and gas development and production.

• Certifications and/or qualifications within the area of specialty that would enhance working knowledge and capabilities are a plus.

• Experience in the development of mature fields, including the application of enhanced oil recovery techniques to heavy oil reservoirs.

Required:

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite and petroleum engineering software.

• Advanced knowledge of petroleum economics.

• Advanced knowledge of reservoir surveillance and modeling, both static and dynamic.

• Advanced knowledge in the application of reservoir engineering fundamentals.

• Demonstrated a strong knowledge of reserves reporting practices.

• Demonstrated strong knowledge of drilling, completion, geoscience, petrophysics, and facilities.

• Demonstrated a positive attitude and support for company values and goals.

• Ability to be entrepreneurial with a strong understanding and competency of the economic evaluation of oil and gas projects.

• Ability to leverage a professional network to add value to the company through exposure to new ideas and technologies.

• Demonstrated experience in developing mature fields, including the application of enhanced oil recovery techniques to heavy oil reservoirs.

• Regional experience in several oil and gas producing basins, including exposure to multiple state regulatory schemes.

Desired:

• Ability to mentor and guide staff effectively.

• Working knowledge of operating agreements.

• Knowledge of oil and gas law, including types of oil and gas interests.

• Experience with petroleum economics, surveillance, and modeling software.

Work Environment

• Primarily office work environment.

• Routine work involves common office activities during a typical 9-hour day such as standing, sitting, walking, typing, and twisting as necessary.

• May be required to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

• Must follow all company safety policies, including when visiting field locations.

Compensation and Benefits

The pay range for this position in California is between $127,720 and $151,668 annually based on a full-time schedule. Please note that the annual salary information is a general guideline, and that annual salary will vary depending on your location and that Berry Corporation ("Berry") will consider factors such as (but not limited to) scope of responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considers when extending an offer. This position is eligible for short-term cash incentive bonus and long-term incentive awarded in restricted share units, excellent benefits including full health benefits, 401(k) with company match and immediate vesting, tuition reimbursement, 9/80 flex schedules, and generous paid time off.
